  1. I've already got a signed Mapplethorpe hanging in the dining room, thank you very much. Plagiarist.
  2. PANTHER - just a heads up - that DVD (5/23/95) is really worth getting. We're so lucky to have Jesse Hamm around here.
  3. I hope Donnie Walsh still has 'it' for you Bjorn. He turned our franchise around back in the day.
  4. Studio Grateful Dead is 1000x better than their totally suckee live shows.
  5. That's awesome. I'll be looking for that one.
  6. There's quite a bit of interesting info about the Weather Underground in a few books I have here - William Manchester's "The Glory and the Dream" and especially Martin Lee's "Acid Dreams". I'd highly recommend the Lee book for anyone interested in the late sixties counterculture. A fascinating book.
  7. I don't know about the rest of you, but I'd be real interested in knowing more about Obama's relationship with this Bill Ayers fella. I'll confess that I don't know much about him but I do know his old lady is Bernadine Dohrn. She was quoted after the Sharon Tate murders as saying "Dig it, first they killed those pigs, then ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim's stomach! Wild! The Weathermen dig Charles Manson!" She had the audacity to proclaim 1970 as "The Year of the Fork" in his honor.
  8. That's fantastic! I'd LOVE to do this but I'm equidistant from Seymour and Chicago - 2+ hours. Shame that the Indy area isn't on the list of participating stores. ::bat signal for Lou::
  9. "The Barbary Coast 1906, the wickedest place in the world (maniacal laugh). Nothing but sin and no salvation. Nothing but...whoo-ohh..lots of fun, hey! > Yeah, San Francisco, the pearl of the Pacific. The jewwwel of the Ring of Fire. Hanging out and having fun until, until I say, I say, I say until, until that one fateful day... > San Francisco in ruins.." - Phil 4/18/82, Hartford Civic Center
  10. Jerry Garcia Band - Shining Star (Live '89-'93) Many of Jerry's best moments onstage in the last 5 years of his life were with the JGB - this is a fine example.
  11. "Serious political costs..our standing in the world seriously diminished". Indeed. I've read a few books on this subject myself and that is the overwhelming opinion. Rummy should be taken to task - he should get the full force of justice imo. Failing that, I only hope that if there is a Hell he has a reservation there.
  12. Wow. Hang in there Michael, Vanessa and family. Many vibes being sent your way for a swift and complete recovery. To lighten your mood I will quote a lyric from the esteemed Mr. Bob Weir: The Lord made a lady out of Adam's rib Next thing you know we had Women's Lib
  13. Cool news! I have a show of theirs somewhere here. Not sure if it's that 2000 show or not - I never put it on my etree list for some odd reason. They definitely do deconstruct Floyd's music. As I recall the version of "Set The Controls" that I have morphed into a raging blues jam.
  14. See, this is why you can't buy booze on Election Day.
  15. If I got my mom baseball tickets for Mother's Day she would kick me square in the nads.
  16. The Grateful Goddamn Dead. Yeah, I said it.
  17. Yeah - ten seconds that I'll never get back! It sure is a fast-paced world out there.
  18. Maybe a little off-topic, but since it was mentioned - I've heard my friend Jack rave about Amazing Grace many times. I'm not sure if that's where he saw Lester but I know he caught the original Oregon there, and I believe Shakti as well. Thanks again for the report from yesterday Lou.
  19. Nice! I think Indy is doing 2 shows as well. Might be difficult to speculate on how different they might be. Decisions.
