  1. If you've never seen Prine, you must go. To use a tired old VC cliche', he's not getting any younger, and neither are you.
  2. I can't say that I'm a fan. My son adores her though.
  3. Yeah Vince! "I just got an award given to me by a Beatle...have you had that happen Kanye?"
  4. I actually have a bet with a co-worker. We've been razzing each other for a few weeks now. I told her about Wilco - she sez "I've never heard of them!". Then she starts calling them "what's that band you like, Waco?". So I start calling Daughtry "Doherty". Anyway, I win if Wilco wins, she wins if Dah-tree wins. C'mon boys!
  5. One of my favorite Help > Slip > Franks ever. I'm not really a rabid fan of '77 past this show (Fall). I really like the pinched sound Jerry got post-Egypt better.
  6. Yep. When the Fabs went from black and white to technicolor so did the rest of the world. Here's a question: would the Beatles evolved the way they did if Mr. Zimmerman hadn't turned them on? Hmmm...
  7. I have a good friend that swears by the 6/23 Dark Star. It's not my favorite, but you cannot argue that it isn't one of the best.
  8. Thanks for playing nice on that one. I just about had a hemmorhage here!
  9. I remember that show for something off-the-wall. During the tune-up for Me and My Uncle Jerry starts playing the riff to Staying Alive by the Bee Gees. Next thing you know, the whole bands starts doing it - then they segue perfectly into Uncle. Funny stuff.
  10. I think it's safe to say that is not an opinion.
  11. 35 years ago today: Roscoe Maples Pavillion, Stanford U., Palo Alto CA 2/9/73 Excellent show. First ever versions of China Doll, Eyes, HC Sunshine, Loose Lucy, TLEO, Row Jimmy, and Wave That Flag (US Blues) Before "China Cat": Wavy Gravy: Okay, how's that? Hi, yah. I am told to make this announcement...short, and not political. I'll make it short, but political is wierd. Like, taking a shit is a political act. Smoking it is a more political act, but world politics and a rainbow on a pole is what we're about. My name is Wavy Gravy. I'm with the Hog Farm. And like many, many people all
  12. I've always been enamored with someone who has a real grasp of language, and who can deliver a good political speech. That said, people generally will let speeches just go in one ear and out the other. After all, they're just politicians. For ideas to truly inspire it has to hit the heart as well as the head. This is why any significant change must come from the poet, the artist, the musician. They are the ones who have the ability to wake people up from their stupor.
  13. Oh God I hope so. That is the nicest outdoor place I've ever been to.
  14. Thanks for the heads up on the upcoming primaries Graham. We'll keep our fingers crossed!
  15. I don't think I've ever heard that. I was thinking more along the lines of that "Blow Away" from '90 where he kinda raps. The "fist" version.
  16. I LOVE 2/14/68. One of my all time favorite shows. I think we've discussed this here before but I'm pretty sure that was the infamous "Jerry throws Phil down the stairs" show.
  17. Lost cities return So now maybe I'll learn To stop this world of a lie This time around Happy Birthday to one of Ummville's finest! Hope today is a great one!
  18. That's just what I needed to wake up to today. Thanks for the link man.
  19. At the risk of sounding heretical - I think it would be really really neat to see Wilco headline outdoors at Deer Creek or wherever with 12,000 people. Maybe someday it will be so.
  20. I watched replays of the CPAC get together tonight. I saw Cheney speak, and McCain and Romney. I saw Ron Paul speak. I've never watched him speak for more than 5 minutes at a time. He did a half-hour tonight. Really intereseting. That guy is truly a maverick candidate if ever I've seen one. He had the folks in the room almost recoiling in horror at some of the things he said. Of course I didn't agree with most of what he had to say but it was still wild to see the reactions of the reactionaries.
  21. ..pull out my guitar and figure out how to play whatever song is on.
