  1. Jim Sorgi gets a contract extension, and then proceeds to go out and play 2 1/2 quarters of the lamest football I've seen around here in 20 years. Yikes!
  2. GONZO - The Life of Hunter S. Thompson
  3. In the kitchen with Jerry! One of my favorite bits ever - when JG holds up that big bag of "powdered sugar" and looks at the camera and just lets out this big sigh...priceless.
  4. I will speak in the vernacular and say this: I have always had the utmost respect for the distinguished gentleman from Arkansas, and I don't see why we can't reach across the aisle (in the spirit of bi-partisanship) and hoist a fine Belgian beverage to celebrate his birthday. Cheers, my friend . Hope you have a great day - sometime I will head to LR and we can have a beer or two...perhaps we can meet at the Clinton Library?
  5. That was one of the ballsiest, most confident plays I've ever seen called, ever. Plays like that are why this is the best offense I've ever watched. Of course, if NE doesn't go all the way none of this will mean a lot. But still, this was a really great run. Congrats Pats fans. I hope we meet you again in January.
  6. The one song thread is only back to the middle of page two. That being said, I'd love to see this thread pinned monthly like the NP. 30-50 pages of one song gets to be a bit much to go through if you don't go there a lot.
  7. Well, I thought you gave them a VERY good game. I was rooting so hard for you.
  8. As we get closer to the Deadhead's favorite holiday the question presents itself: what is your favorite GD NYE show? I have the following (on CD and/or cassette): '72, '76, '78, '81, '82, '84, '85, '87, '88, '89, '90 and '91. It's a real toughie but I'll give the nod to either '78 (closng of Winterland, first Star since '74) or '90 (w/ Branford and Bruce). Jerry Xmas & Happy New Weir to all!
  9. That's an awesome comp Mende - thanks, I've got a lot of mileage from that one.
  10. I've always really liked the 9/30/01 show.
  11. I tend to agree with you. Although all of the incarnations of the band are excellent in their own right I really love the arrangements from that era. Very unique in the history of Wilco.
  12. I can and do too - except it's like 6 -12 hours of Grateful Dead per day. Yes, I'm insane.
  13. Shhhh! We're not supposed to mention that.
  14. Happy Birfday Lammicus! Today may you have a High Time, and live The Good Life. OK. That's all for now. Mahalo.
  15. In honor of your natal anniversary we have decided to Knight the distinguished gentleman from Texas: henceforth, you shall now be known as Sir Poonio of Google. HAPPY BIRFDAY NEIL! Have a great day.
  16. I've watched it a number of times now - everytime someone comes to visit I force 'em to sit down and watch it.
  17. I dunno if you could call them 'young lions' at this point, but many of the Trane-influenced avant-jazz guys are still alive: Roscoe Mitchell, David Murray, Anthony Braxton etc. I think Henry Threadgill is still kickin' - I saw him with Very Very Circus maybe 10 years ago and it was pretty great. I never got to see Lester Bowie though.
  18. Well, as you know even though the Fillmore was much better known (and profitable) the Avalon was considered by the SF people to be the true "hippie church'. Chet Helms ran the place and to say their attitude was laid back would be a gross understatement. edit: It's definitely worth having Aman. I couldn't help but notice it says "Volume 1". Let's hope the title bodes well for the future.
  19. The dudes name is Paul Stubblebine- apparently hand-picked by Bear. It is wierd - I have the 4/6/69 GD show on cassette and it sounds great. But if I remember correctly that is a KFOG or KSAN FM-SBD.
  20. Well, Santa paid me a visit and I now own these discs. The sound is like a 3rd or 4th generation analog tape, but all things considered it's not too shabby. Anyway, I'm listening right now and I'm in heaven.
