  1. Clapton - The Autobiography. I knew about the heroin years, but I didn't know of the extent of the alcoholism problem. Wow.
  2. Hey, Indiana is in second place (15-13). On a small roll (5 out of 6). Most importantly, they're actually interesting to watch - run and gun!
  3. Lou, I turned my friend Alan onto your GloNo article yesterday. He was mightily impressed.
  4. I JUST heard this on the evening news. Oscar was one of the real heavyweights - one of the few who was a joy to listen to no matter what head space you were in. Farewell to the "Maharajah of the Keyboards". He will be missed.
  5. That one Xmas song by Lee Ving and Fear. Oh yeah, that's not traditional. I've always liked Charlie Parker's take on "White Christmas" - you can hear his sense of humor in there.
  6. Season's Greetings to all VCers and their families. And to all of you who must travel - be safe out there!
  7. OK this is truly an impossible task. Here's one for the Prog genre only: drums/percussion - Bill Bruford (King Crimson) "Starless" bass - Chris Squire (Yes) "Perpetual Change" (esp. the middle section) electric gtr. - Robert Fripp and Adrian Belew (King Crimson) "Frame By Frame" acoustic gtr. - Steve Howe (Yes) "Clap" keys - Keith Emerson (ELP) "Tarkus" vocals - Peter Gabriel (Genesis) "Supper's Ready" - closing section
  8. Pedal steel courtesy of a Mr. Jerome John Garcia. p.s. I'm still pondering this - my brain may explode before I come to a conclusion!
  9. This just in from the David Nelson Band: Jan. 26 - Feb. 2 the DNB (DN, Barry Sless, Pete Sears and Mookie Siegel) is playing in Hawaii for the week with special guest drummer Billy the Rockin' K Kreutzmann! Now, who's got 2K to blow on a trip with me?
  10. Kudos my friend. That was truly awesome.
  11. 12 days to go and Senator Joe is gaining some momentum! http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gPmd2pP...wl163wD8TM118G0
  12. I'm watching the funeral of our Rep. Julia Carson. Lots of great speakers. Especially Tavis Smiley.
  13. The dream is lost Don't let it slip away Or bloody days won't be far away Cause when there's no more sun There's nowhere you can run Does anybody know how many lives we've lost? Can anybody ever pay the cost? What will it take for us to join in peace my friends? Does anybody out there even care? WAKE UP WORLD - before it's too late It's time for love to conquer hate And when that battle's won We all can live as one Does anybody know how many lives we've lost? Can anybody ever pay the cost? What will it take for us to join in peace my friends? Does anybody out there even care? Riots in
  14. I was sort of a second generation hippie so I never really subscribed to any punk "ethos" (whatever that means) but I will say this: Joe Strummer was truly a righteous individual and his music touched me deeply. There will never be another Joe - rest in peace brother.
  15. All the best to you and your family Edie. You should know that we all love you here.
  16. I was catching REO Speedwagon before you were born my son. They were OK. Back on topic though - I would be remiss if I didn't mention Three Floyds Dreadnaught Ale. Very very tasty.
  17. I'm fairly certain Santa has this for my son who is a big PJ fan. I'm looking forward to hearing this on the stereo Xmas day myself.
  18. Happy Birthday Kyle! Hopefully by this time next year we'll be discussing seeing Zeppelin!
  19. Well of course I'd say yes. The first set ends with a looong '74- style Playin', there's a nice dreamy Eyes in the second set as well as a stand alone Scarlet Begonias. The real clincher for me is the Help > Slip > Drums > NFA > Morning Dew sequence late in the show. I think it might be the first Dew since Oct. '74 - a powerhouse version.
  20. I would never rag on The Clash, and Coda is just so-so but damn man I have to take exception with Presence - I bought that record when it came out and it is still ( to me ) one of the best rock guitar albums ever.
