  1. I remember paying 50 bucks to see the band in '89. 20th row floor (on my birthday!), and I couldn't believe I was paying that much for a concert!
  2. Regarding Barton Hall - Blair Jackson blogged about that show, and according to him 928,000 people have d/l'ed that thing from Archive. If you throw in etree, old-school snail mail tape trades, etc. he estimates maybe 2 MILLION people have had that show in their possession at one time or another. DOUBLE FUCKING PLATINUM for a show that's never even been released!
  3. Pete Sears was at the LA show and said both Keef and Ronnie were in fine form. Of course he hung out backstage with both of them before the show so he may have had his attitude adjusted a bit.
  4. LOL. Yeah. The only version I've ever heard that I liked was Phish 9/30/00, and it was more for the amusement factor than anything else. You should check it out, Aman, for what happens after the actual song than anything else - it's truly bizarre in a way only Phish can do.
  5. I promise I'll dub in real time. None of that high-speed shit.
  6. Tax refund came yesterday. Dead Net announces pre-order for May '77 box yesterday. Ordered box set today. Surprise surprise.
  7. The 5/13 was an XRT broadcast. I had that show very early on on cassette.
  8. Don't start with me, pal. I have more live LPs than you've had hot dinners.
  9. Magnum Force Crow. That's some heavy sounding stuff, right there. I dig.
  10. Hell yeah. Teleprompters don't bother me at all. Of course, Garcia used one for about 2+ years and still blew lyrics left and right, bless him.
  11. It might. The Goddamn most hideous cat in the world is back, and I feel better already just because of that.
  12. You're quite right regarding the GD. Definitely in the last 3 years or so of the band's existence. But, as WRP said, Bralove was running effects for that minute or two until Space began. Believe me, I didn't dig that shit at all, but it was brief, and when the band was playing actual tunes there wasn't anyone 'behind the curtain' covering up flubs or filling in the sound so it would sound 'like the record'. Hell, why would The dead want their live stuff to sound like the record? Those things SUCK, by and large.
  13. Birthday or not, you're still too young for me to refer to you as "Louis".
  14. Who cares? I'm printing out this thing, making a shit ton of copies, and handing 'em out in the parking lot at Solid Sound. All in the noble pursuit of educating the people, you understand.
  15. This. Triggers and samples are just part of the deal for many bands now. All in the name of 'professionalism', I guess. At least to my knowledge the Dead, the Allmans and others who like to stretch things out live (including the great Crazy Horse) refrain from these shenanigans. God bless 'em.
  16. Why hasn't this thing been pinned? PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW THIS SHIT!
  17. Yeah, that's a great pic. Is that a sheepish grin on Bobby or what?
  18. I'm inclined to believe the Ambien story, too. Despite his pranksterish nature I've always thought Weir was the most 'symptom-free' member of the Grateful Dead. And after watching his big brother (Jerry) waste himself on hard drugs I'm sure he abhors narcotics for recreational purposes. AWESOME that you saw the NORML (wink) show.
  19. John K. posted on his FB page (reprinted by Relix) that Weir took an Ambien by mistake instead of his pain meds for his shoulder injury. Which would explain things. You can believe it, or not. But that's what the man said. If true, it's pretty embarrassing for Bobby.
