  1. Your prayers have been answered, Moss! How about Carini? Easy as hell to learn, hard-rockin' Phish. Let us know what you think of this.
  2. Yeah. Hey, '84 is admittedly a VERY spotty year, but when it's on it's fucking ON. Mid-June through mid-July has some stellar moments, as does October. I still want my Indy show (6/30) to get the treatment. Even if it's just filler, pre-drums is teh shit.
  3. I want an '84 show, dammit! That year DOES exist, Lemieux!
  4. As long as it's a quartet with the three surviving members this sounds cool. I DON'T wanna see a dozen people up there onstage.
  5. That show, and especially set 2, is one of my very favorite sets of music ever.
  6. Yep. A few tasty fills is about it. And that's fine. I mean, the whole 'modus operandi' of The Dead and The Who are about as far apart as you can get. I'm really glad that somehow Pete and Jerry had some kind of relationship, because without a doubt they are the two of the most intellectual, philosophical men that have ever been major Rock stars. I could listen to either one all day long.
  7. Next album: NO catchy shit. NO clever lyrics, in fact NO lyrics at all. Just uncompromising, balls-to-the-wall noise. Something that will piss everyone off. Like a Metal Machine Music for the New Millennium.
  8. a headlight on a northbound train..
  9. Yep, 3/29/90. That show was truly epic. I wasn't there, but I remember when I got the tapes a couple of months later. That second set pre-drums was as sick as anything in the last decade of the band imo. I was just dumbstruck when I heard it. WRP - give the first half of the Brent years a chance! I actually like '79-'81 better than '76-'78, but ymmv as they say.
  10. Hell, you know (as I do) that he looked like death warmed over when we first started seeing the band. At least by '83-'84. Staring at the floor all night, ghostly appearance, etc. It started to get a little better after the bust.
  11. Hell, I thought it was quite amusing. You guys ever see any of his interview stuff from the "Farewell Concert"? It's somewhat similar. Not everyone is Mr. Congeniality like Sir Paul. I kinda dig that he just doesn't give a fuck what anyone there thinks, and is brutally frank - "I did it for the money", etc. Kinda refreshing imo.
  12. Thanks for posting, man. I can't believe I never heard Trane in the middle section there but there it is!
  13. His was a sound that launched a million trips. A very essential part of my childhood. I LOVED that band. RIP, Ray.
  14. Why don't you give me a call after you've been MARRIED FOR 20 YEARS!
  15. It should be a tune from one of those fine Illinoise bands Styx or The REO Speedwagon.
  16. Just as long as I don't go to the place where it's an eternity of 80s Hair Metal then I'm ok.
  17. My old buddy Basil II sent me a Califone mix tape about '05, and at the end of one disc was No Expectations. That thing just sunk me so deep into the chair. Still one of my favorite covers ever, no kidding.
  18. My .02: best spot - dead fucking center, about 5-10 rows off the floor at the back of the room.
  19. I remember seeing a year or two ago that the Fillmore West '69 box that I paid $100 (or so) for 10 years ago was going for like 1500 bucks. Shit, I could probably pay off my house or definitely buy a new car with all the GD stuff I got here. I just couldn't do it. LOL I think when I cash my check I'll have all of this donated to the public library or something. Maybe some kid will get turned on, who knows?
  20. I never resold a ticket for more than face, and I certainly would never sell a release for profit. I wouldn't sell any release, period. And as far as parting with the money, it never figured into it when we were buying tickets for all those shows, along with the food, gas, and lodging. I'm almost stone-cold broke, but I'll live on PB&J sammiches if that's what it takes to get the releases. I can think of far worse ways to spend cash.
