  1. Cheers, Edie. Here's to you. :badger :badger :badger :badger :usa
  2. Is that the band that has opened for the Black Crowes recently? I missed their opening act earlier this month but if it's the same folks, Chris Robinson came out and did a tune or two with them.
  3. Neil is a highly underrated song writer. His last few albums are excellent, not to mention Hot August Night from the 70s being in the upper tier of live albums.
  4. What about having Josh Bard back? Didn't do so hot catching Wakefield, but... http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...near_deals.html
  5. True. Seems as if he's having a hard time coming to terms with the reality that he's best serving in a limited role. He still has value defensively but, realistically, isn't an everyday starter anymore.
  6. Big 'ol Rocky Mountain vibes traversing the plains your way....
  7. Besides 'Tek (and really, there's still a chance he gets picked up again with BOS for less than the arbtration deal they originally offered him, as no other team is biting), Wakefield may have some serious arm issues. I think if they do pick up Penny (on the cheap, I'd imagine), it's decent insurance.
  8. Not sure they will back off on him(or in regards to Smoltz or Sheets). There's innuendo/rumor that Wakefield has issues.....
  9. Brad Penny to be picked up by BOS. Here's hoping he gets back to 2007 form. Not a bad fifth starter, if so: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8997354...nny-to-rotation
  10. Take it with a grain of salt, but supposedly a couple Denver (Pepsi center) shows in April followed by a Red Rocks run in July/Aug.: http://phishcoventry.blogspot.com/2008/12/...irmed-july.html
  11. I've heard rumblings from friends and it was in the Post today (as a rumor).
  12. I've heard/read rumors about a 5-night run at Red Rocks....
  13. According to Snopes, Ellis felt his teammates had "lost their aggressiveness" and were "too easily intimidated".... http://www.snopes.com/sports/baseball/ellis.asp
  14. Just getting around to this thread. Yes, Todd has performed the tune live. Todd's a big baseball fan, as well. Here's a clip of him doing the tune in a hotel room: I caught this on another site: Apparently Ellis had a short fuse (besides being a little loopy, to boot) and on a slated day to pitch still held a grudge against the Reds from some previous bean-balling or HBP deal earlier in the season. He told his teammates he was going to just throw at all batters until he was tossed. And did. He hit Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, and Dan Dreissen, then walked Tony Perez. Then, after throwing twice a
  15. I went to see JT at Foxwoods (MA) about 17 years or so ago on a whim. A buddy called me at the last minute with an extra ticket so I rode up from CT with him on a very rainy day. I had neither like or dislike for JT at the time. I was pretty much middle-of-the-road with the cat. Anyway, the concert was fantastic and I was quite surprised at how well he sounded. He had a horn section and band backing him up and it just worked really well that day. That said, I still have neither like or dislike for the cat.
  16. Back at you, Neil. Hope you're feeeling better. And my thanks, as well.
  17. Whatever happened with the Pines Theater show from '07 that was videotaped/XM-radioed? Didn't VH1 have cameras rolling at that and is it planned for any release...?
  18. Almost 89 years to the day Ruth was sent to the NYY for a pile of cash. Here's to more news and spirited discussion....
  19. Have a good one, guys. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.... :badger :badger :badger
  20. Spending less will pocket more? But they won't be able to spend more, anyway. The Marlins have been unbelievably successful? You'll force those two teams to come closer by a salary cap. Yeesh, seems like there's gripe for the distance between teams (monetarily) and gripe for bringing them closer together (monetarily). It's a lose-lose.
