  1. Scott Boras MLB and minor league clients (rough draft): http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2008/10/scott-boras-cli.html
  2. Apparently, BOS offered Teixeira 8 YR/$184 MM ($23 MM per year) and Boras countered with 8 YR/$200 MM, which pissed BOS off. Nats and O's are still high in the running (he's a Baltimore native/would like to play on east coast, and interest from both of them) but I would not be surprised to see NYY swoop in at the last minute, either. http://www.thebostonchannel.com/sports/18311921/detail.html
  3. Gotta agree on this. If you're a player you want Boras doing your bargaining. He still comes off as a douche bag, though.
  4. Oh come on. Boras (and his clients) is never going to shut a team out. The one with the biggest contract wins in the end. I wouldn't count BOS out and think there may be people playing the press game on both sides, not just Boras' side for a change. I doubt Teixeira has gotten offers that Boras claims he will merit (about $26 MM/yr) and the price may very well come down in the near future, which means BOS is right back in the thick of it. It's just your typical cat and mouse game but with John Henry playing publicly.
  5. Cool site, markosis and nice photos. The Blue Ridge Parkway is a hell of pretty ride. Did you stop in Roanoke/Salem, VA?
  6. Probably 2-3rd on the list compared to the NY teams.... But hey, it's just money, right?
  7. Unfortunately, that shit helped define the 70s....
  8. I don't think it's a matter of a "missing piece," but rather that he is available and would make pretty much any club a better club. For that alone he's desirable. In terms of $/pitching, BOS is doing pretty well in the pitcher category and will likely add to it regardless of a Texeireia signing or not. OF? Doing well there, too. If someone is going to land him and that someone is in the AL then I'd prefer BOS to land him.
  9. Some of the best 70s music: http://a4.vox.com/6a00d09e55a277be2b0100a7f13b94000e-500pi
  10. Don't be a fool all your life.... How much is that doggie in the window?
  11. A lot of great tunes mentioned but the 70s (in my eyes) were also a time of shitty tunes that were inexplicably great, in a way. Many of these have been mentioned but I'd like to add: Fox on the Run The Night Chicago Died Like a Rhinestone Cowboy Convoy
  12. They played in a fairly new venue out here about a week ago (Broomfield Events Center) and apparently the place was only about 1/3 full. How was the crowd at MSG? Seems like an awfully large venue for this show.
  13. Geographism. He's nothing but a blatant geographobe.
  14. It's believed to be in the neighborhood of the Nat's offer (8 yr./$160 MM). I can't see BOS going longer on the years but might go a bit deeper on the price.... Baldelli says no mis-diagnosis... Good news for him if it's treatable, too. BOS is looking into him still. http://blogs.tampabay.com/rays/2008/12/baldelli-an-enc.html ed. oops, mfwahl beat me to it.
  15. Saw this the other day. Cake is the least of the youngster's (and siblings) problems. First of all: that hair style's gotta go....
  16. Moyer back to PHI; Chan Ho Park, too: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-p...p&type=lgns
  17. Has Neil invited Jeff out to collaborate on any tunes this tour? I'm thinking "Walk On?"
  18. The Jesus and Mary Chain: The Black Session. Just about perfect the whole way through.
  19. Ha! I think that was my real introduction to him, too. That album is fantastic, as are his versions of those (I need to get it again, I misplaced it years ago). I don't know if he does those tunes at his own shows, he didn't last weekend (though he was sitting in with a local band, so....).
  20. Furcal to sign with ATL: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8947764...ign-with-Braves
  21. He was much larger than he looks in pictures. I had a chance to chat with him briefly, as well (before the Crowes show). Seemed like a nice guy and man they played a nice gig.
  22. NYY sign Iraqi hurler: http://www.borowitzreport.com/
