Happy birthday man.

I can't access my picks from work. And I'm forgetting a few of my picks.

BOS and OAK in Japan. Some pretty cool pics: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/bos/phot...Vxw29pmFOsT0bYF

We should probably bust out a fantasy thread, no? Anyone?
-
I made my pics based solely on the records/how they fared in their conference/ppg-pa/etc. with basically no other knowledge. I figure it's as good as any other way to pick 'em.

You mean the Dreaded Pumpkin Head? Yeah, he's still sucking.

I do remember some Court TV stuff with Phil and MG testifying. Koons comes off as real bitch.

Randy?

Cripes, it's like having a discussion with myself in this thread at times. Anyway: I liked at Garcia's tribute a few days after he died when his daughter Anabelle thanked the crowd for making it so she and her sister never had to work at Dairy Queen.

I picked him up on two of my Fantasy teams. I think he'll be fine. Who knows, though.

This needs a recognition. Well done.

Wasn't at the "Unbroken Chain" bust out in '95 in Philly but was fortunate to catch a few others. Lots of good stuff in the south with these fond memories. St. Stephen - Hartford '83 (though MSG right before was the break-out, it was euphoric nonetheless) The Warlocks shows with all the bust-outs Ripple- Cap Center '88 Stir it Up- Hampton '88 and So What- Hampton '88 (only time playeds) Louie, Louie- Hartford '88 Loose Lucy- Cap Center '90 California Earthquake- Philly and Charlotte '89 Few others i can't remember right now but the most memorable was the Stephen: I knew they'd done it at M

There'd need to be a minimum innings pitched, minimum plate appearances, etc. or else my roster would be filled with "NA"s.
-
I've never played that way but think it could be fun.

I hadn't read that but I know that MLB has acquiesced to having the coaches and staff from both teams compensated. The players voted on whether to go or not and MLB offered incentives (the $40,000 appearance fee, from what I've read) as it really is a promotional/ambassador-ship for MLB. Link that addresses some of this: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3301195

It's appearance fees that were agreed to by MLB for the trip. BOS players contacted OAK players to inform them they'd be taking a stand because MLB seemed to be excluding coaches and staff from the $40,000 appwearance fees. And BOS v. OAK play 2 exhibition games in Japan and 2 "real" games that count as part of the 162 regular season games..

I don't think anyone (besides Mussina after the fact) is bitching, though. The BOS players were sticking up for their coaches, demanding they get paid for the trip as well, is all

Regardless of how much money they make or their accomodations and time for sleep on the flights, baseball players ( as like most professional athletes) are creatures of habit. I've already mentioned the monkey wrench it throws into the starting rotation but adjusting to climate/environment and the time zones has an affect on most of the players, I'd imagine. So yes, they get loads of money and should suck it up (and as far as I know, they do) but it still takes them out of their collective comfort zones for the beginning of the season.
-
That's right, I remember now. I think it was the Cubs and Mets (not NYY/SEA) who had played in Japan first, wasn't it?
-
Screws with the rotation as well as they cross the International Date Line. The time difference is a pretty big factor here. Also: I believe it was 2004 that the NYY and Tampa Bay opened the season in Tokyo, too. I think the Expos played some regular season games against (I forget) in Pueto Rico/San Juan, too. .
-
I agree. I also like the trip to Japan. Kind of cool to bring MLB to other countries.
-
I'm thinking re,iele goes home tonight. Overall, some pretty shitty takes on some pretty great tunes. That Michael Johns seemed lost. He'll be alright though.
-
With Sat. Night encore. I'm pretty sure that's the entirety of the second set. Supposedly the show was supposed to start at 6 p.m. but did not start until 11 p.m. for whatever reason. I don't recall ever hearing and/or coming across this show either.

Wait, I always thought Heather Mills' first pimp was Ice-T.
