  1. Ha, no I don't recall you telling me this. I've got a Blues Traveler connection, too, to match yours. There are a lot listed there and in some type of foreign language, too. I'm not sure I like the ones with the stands as much as the ones you just sit on.
  2. This was a fun night, with the only GD "Stir it Up" (besudes the Stir it Up Jam at Cap Center a few years later). It's not the complete song (Weir obviously didn't know the lyrics) but it was a fun little goof around for a few minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_3MjPe2030
  3. Me too! I like playing my conga that way (between the legs rather than upright) but it slips out a lot and/or requires a lot of pressure from the thighs to keep it stable. That cajon looks perfect in terms of convenience in playing it.
  4. Nice. I want one. Great show, but a RIDICULOUS "The Eleven": https://archive.org/details/gd68-10-12.sbd.eD.10909.sbeok.shnf
  5. Weir, Billy, Mickey (and Popper and Woody from Cheers)play at tiny club for Sundance. Anybody know what that percussive box Billy is playing is? http://mashable.com/2017/01/23/grateful-dead-sundance-concert-long-strange-trip/#jHEgCSwCEOqY
  6. Phineas and Ferb, yeah, good stuff. Don't know about Peppa Pig (youngest is the 9 yr old). But I was referring to the Spongebob Squarepants Movie soundtrack, with Wilco, Ween, Flaming Lips, Motorhead, etc.
  7. If they (or if they do down the road) watch Spongebob, the soundtrack is a fun disc for adults, too (I'm sure you are aware, but just in case).
  8. Exactly! Do we crank are own music in the car "for" them? YES! (although I used to acquiesce to kid tunes when they were little). I've tried to brainwash my kids into enjoying sports with me, too. No dice.
  9. Yeah, my 9 yr old and 13 yr old sons went with my wife and her friend (I was sick in bed). the 9 yr old wanted to make a sign the night before but we were lacking in poster board and one of his ideas was a bit shallow (he wanted: No More Signs) so we bahgged the sign deal But yeah, we definitely have not hidden our political views (his mother, my ex, as well) so I'd imagine he's been swayed, just as if we had taken him to church or something. When they get old enough they can come to their own conclusions. The 9 yr old, in particular, loved going to the march and was amazed at the power of p
  10. Hm. Showed up on my post. Either way, it's the kid: https://scontent.fapa1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/16114986_10212488168066074_912233577145100678_n.jpg?oh=d61faf6900e424bc8a8c55802464c966&oe=58FFF20C
  11. Everything is a debate these days. Wild. Speaking of 3 yr olds, best sign at the marches (not sure if he/she is actually 3, so please don't challenge me on it):
  12. Yeah, he had a small, secondary (probably more tertiary, but he does stand out and has some lines) role as Alias (good shot with a knife!) who helps out Billy. He has a few scenes. I love the soundtrack, too. Here's some visuals (along with some text on his involvement with the film) to help spark the neurons: http://mashable.com/2016/03/02/bob-dylan-western/
  13. This reminded me of another great use of music: all the horrific scenes in A Clockwork Orange set to Classical pieces such as "Symphony No. 9," "William Tell Overture," and "Pomp and Circumstance," not to mention Gene Kelly's "Singin' in the Rain."
  14. I saw a pic yesterday (that I saved on my phone) of Garcia (early '77) in a red t-shirt with a Stealie on it, playing the white Travis Bean with the "Ass, Grass, or Gas/Nobody Rides for Free" sticker at the bottom.
  15. I listened to most of Never Mind the Bollocks on the way to work today....
  16. There's already idiotic, violent, and criminal vandalism/destruction taking place in D.C. Definitely counter-productive and not the way to protest, imo.
  17. I read recently that De Niro helped him kick his coke habit (thus "saving his life") to film Raging Bull.
  18. Who couldn't name Truckin, Touch of Grey, Sugar Magnolia, Friend of the Devil, Ripple, Uncle John's Band, or Wave to the Wind?
  19. Because most/all of what he has said has been proven true? At least in regard to the steroid issue and naming names.
  20. Me, my wife, and at least one of our 4 boys in Denver.
  21. Regardless (and remember he did do The Last Waltz) is there a better person to produce a film? Whether he knows 5 tunes or not (and I'm betting he does), he knows about their cultural/musical relevance (from Rolling Stone): "I've always admired the spirit and creativity of the Grateful Dead," Scorsese said in a statement following the Amazon acquisition. "They are revolutionary artists who forever changed the world of touring and recording live music. They were a cultural force — a lifestyle, that continue to influence new generations of fans. This film will entertain and educate audiences a
  22. As much as I think he's a doltish guy, it's hard to argue with some of his takes.
  23. Buddy of mine wanted me to fly out with him (he has the tix). Would've loved to but can't. There arealternative ways to get the webstream....
  24. Can't figure out how to copy/paste a video without a link, but from one of my favorite movies, Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid: The scene of Slim Pickens dying while his wife weeps and "Knocking on heaven's Door" plays.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjR7_U2u3sM
