Happy Birthday.

I agree. I think he did an admirable job considering the shitty bullpen he was forced to work with. I'm thinking it's less his fault and more the GM's fault.

The track "Falling at Your Feet" written/played/sung w/ Bono is a pretty great track. The version they did for the Million Dollar Hotel soundtrack is nice but I prefer the alternative cut off of Lanois's Shine album, also featuring Bono.

Rockies win 13 of last 14 games. Pretty damn impressive. It's been fun watching them the last few months. Lots of young guys just coming into their prime, and all. They play SD tomorrow at Coors Field for the WC.

Where to start with The Grateful Dead?

I didn't notice the usual folks promoting the discs in the crowd, but that doesn't mean much. -

Yeah just talked to some buddies who went up to RR last night. One pal who's a huge Phil fan said it was the best Phil show he's seen (25+ shows) and he's a big Herring, Scofield, and Warren fan, too. I was set to head up but did not get out of a teacher workshop until 6 p.m. so I had to sit that one out. Apparently Larry Campbell was switching around to fiddles/dobros, etc. for a lot of the acoustic set and Jackie was doing the harmonica/acoustic guitar deal. The Friday show was decent enough and the playing was solid, I just found myself pining for a little more energy I guess. They certai -

Will do. I may blow off tomorrow's Red Rock's gig as it's looking to be cold, rainy, and windy. -

Apparently he was just real abrasive in style compared to the other drum masters with him. Clanking off beat on a cowbell, making really grating noises that apparently countered the rest of the music, etc. I've seen Mickey with his various side projects a bunch of times and know that he likes to experiment with odd sounds and time signatures, but the review I read implied it was much more than that. For an encore he stood on the stage and played his chest with one fist chanting while the "NFA" chorus. I wasn't there but apparently he was pretty far off for the night. ed. It wasn't last ni -

I had to skip Monday night's Mickey Hart/Global Drum project last night but early reports are that there were some "boos' in the crowd for some very boo-worthy moments and that Hart was really difficult to listen to. Hmmn. Phil tonight and tomorrow with Donna in town w/ the Zen Tricksters. -

Apparently he fouled a ball or two off his foot that last AB. Hopefully nothing serious.

Just tape a bunch of ripped wrapping paper and assorted bows and ribbons on the baby and he can be "the floor on Christmas morning."

Papelbon has referred to himself several times publicly as a "dumb hick" and it's a clubhouse bit/joke apparently. All in good fun. True. And maybe it's in the best interest of Red Sox fans that he's a simpleton.

Yes. And that b&w is pretty intense, as well.

Fun to watch, again. For anyone interested, the newest S.I. has an excellent cover story on Papelbon by Tom Verducci: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writ...1001/index.html

Rockies working off of a 9 game winning streak. Imagine that. It'd be nice to see some live post-season ball in the Rockies for the first time since '95.

Yeah, they do. I was thinking it was an accommodation for them at first, too. I know it's been slated for 5:00 since I printed the schedule early last soring, though. Maybe the A's adjusted their schedule recently?
