  1. No doubt. In fact, I asked my wife if the chick on the piano was Gwen Stefani (from No Doubt) but I guess it was Miley Cyrus. The Chris Rock scenes were funny, but beyond that it was a clusterfuck of inanity.
  2. You're releasing your first three novels all at once? That's pretty impressive. Best wishes and much success.
  3. Watched second season of Broadchurch Sunday and Monday nights. Pretty excellent but it's still hard for me to understand some of the dialogue at times. Watched A Very Murray Christmas last night and, while funny at points, it was pretty confusing.
  4. Probably. Maybe not suddenly, but I'm sure she had hopes he'd phase it out. Also, he obviously wasn't as far gone 15 or so years ago when STP was formed/came into the mainstream. Drug abuse tends to get progressively worse....
  5. Wasn't me, maaaaan..... Nice pics, Tinnitus!
  6. If you guys haven't read this yet, you should. It's excellent. A letter from his ex-wife to Rolling Stone: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/scott-weiland-s-family-dont-glorify-this-tragedy-20151207
  7. Salt Lake City? https://archive.org/details/gd1973-02-28.sbd.jools.9986.sbeok.shnf
  8. Why? Rob Eaton was pretty heavily entrenched in the taping scene in the 70s/80s and the others are all hard-core fans, as well. Sam Cutler posted on fb the other day his love for DSO and noted that they've now played more shows than the GD did (apropos of nothing, but still..).
  9. Phil's distanced himself from the others at least since he split off from The Other Ones to do P & F ('98 or '99?). There was talk of GD boardroom squabbles over how to use/not use the vaulted material, too.
  10. I wonder if terrorists are exploiting the lax gun laws. Hmmmm.....
  11. I watched the news by default (came on after the football game) last night with my wife, and after reports on the "terrorist-tied" San Bernadino couple, a Denver nurse held hostage at gun point at a Veteran's hospital, and on a S.W.A.T. team and a large portion of the Denver Police at my son's high school due to a student with a gun report, I had to turn it off. Too much fucked up stuff.
  12. Non-guilty pleasure for me. Always liked their (STP's) sound/vibe. A sad deal that he died at a young age, and although it hasn't been reported that it was drug-related (source I read said he "died in his sleep"), that's one tough drug to leave behind.
  13. They did rehearse, just not "much", whatever that means. I guess they rehearsed as much as they felt they needed to to pull off 5 shows, which probably doesn't require a shit load of rehearsing. And yes, I want to listen to the Casal and company discs that recently came out....
  14. No doubt! Probably the best show I saw last year (and that was a year ago this past October). The band's got "it".
  15. Sitting at my desk eating lunch with gdradio playing and right away noticing how tepid it's all sounding only to find out it's a Dead & Co show from CO last week....
  16. Not to pan the shows (I wasn't even at any of them) but I have no desire to re-visit them, either. A good friend kept pressing my to send him a flash drive so he could download all the shows for me and I didn't want to waste a flash drive. They sounded like they rehearsed enough to pull off (at times, a little awkwardly) a fistful of shows....
  17. Don't they have audio and visual packages from the FTW shows that are selling? They made something like $55 M for 5 shows as it was....Shit, I likely wouldn't hang out with a bunch of guys I've known since my late teens/early 20s that much either, except for get-togethers (shows). They get along well enough to still play with each other on occasion, and that's cool. http://www.realtor.com/news/celebrity-real-estate/phil-lesh-buys-marin-county-property/
  18. Nice. He's already moved up from a 1,500 +-capacity club to The Fillmore's 3,500 + since last year. Catching them in couple weeks.
  19. Was this in New Haven? Sooooo wanted to go but the 'ol man didn't take us.
  20. Besides most already mentioned (good call on Juarssic 5, my wife just turned me on to them a year or so ago, and sure, Tribe is "Rap" and they're really good) I'd add Tupac, too.
  21. Looks like another "must read" book, this one by Gans and Blair Jackson (listed at $32 but on Amazon for $18): http://www.sfgate.com/books/article/This-Is-All-a-Dream-We-Dreamed-An-Oral-6658203.php
  22. Ah, gotta seek this one out. I like his writing.
  23. Went Tuesday night, blew off Wed. It was ok. Not magical by any means. We were on the floor, good sound and lights and Bob sounded in good form. But, I couldn't really get over looking up and seeing Mayer for a whole show. My hang up. I guess. Plus, as good as Oteil is, Phill is a big gaping hole that is noticeably missed. Overall, left with a feeling of stoicism even though it was a fun night with lots of friends around having a hoot. A few friends over for Thanksgiving yesterday split for Vegas shows after dinner and wanted me to go. Wasnt going to spend the money for any more shows....
