  1. Yes, those are the boys and they'll be going to their first rock concert (8 and 10)!! I'm sure we'll be roaming around a bit before show...
  2. Very excited! Me and the family will be in pit, 2nd row. It would be nice to meet some of you VC folks. What are the signs that identify a VCer? Head bandanna and eye patch? The truly hyper fans who look like this? Heavy drinkers? Perhaps we can meet somewhere in the venue before start?
  3. Me too. I signed up, took their silly quizzes etc, and am earning thousands of points, all going into the contest. Here's hoping..... and a little praying
  4. Great news. These guys are just too good, so much integrity, so considerate, true to their music and fans.... I love em!!! I'll be listening tonight making usual silly comments!
  5. Perhaps a "most uplifting Wilco song" thread is in order?
  6. I've thought long and hard on this one too... If I get one it will be design from one of the t-shirts. Not the death's head but the very nice Wilco tree (I have the shirt but can't find an online image). But KT has a very cool one I see.
  7. No luck..... At least they're playing Tom Petty instead of Lenny Kravitz!
  8. The worst part of all this is having to listen to moronic djs and a lot of crap. I stopped listening to the radio when I -- oh, the contest is on right now!!!
  9. About to watch A Scanner Darkly.
  10. On and On and On is one helluva death song, though Far, Far Away always strikes the right melancholic note every time I listen to it.
  11. My youngest son just bought Boy today (big U2 fan). I haven't heard it in a while and it sounded a bit dated though still for its time completely original in lyrics and that guitar.
  12. One of my favorite outtakes: We met out on open streets when we had no place to go I remember how my heart beat when you said I love you so Then little by little we choked out all the life that our love could hold Oh no CHORUS It's like we had a noose and baby without check We pulled until it grew tighter around our necks Each one waiting for the other, darlin', to say when Well baby you can meet me tonight on the loose end We didn't count tomorrows, we took what we could and baby we ran There was no time for sorrow, every place we went I held your hand And when the night closed in I was
  13. Got to agree with these three, though I'm one who has loved U2 from the get go--even like the Saints song with Green Day.....really.
  14. I should have listened to you. Bought the Whiskeytown and on first listening, it sounds pretty weak, embarrassing almost. But I'm going to give it a little more time. I did hear a bit of Freakwater and liked, so will return to the used cd store and find it. So Springsteen is not much of an precursor to alt country? Some of UT and Whiskeytown's Faithless Street reminds me of The River and Nebraska. And Costello's Almost Blue has no relevance at all, I guess.
  15. I still like the studio version of this one over the live... But in response to the query: Hell is Chrome and Company on my Back from AGIB Ashes and War on War from YHF Shot in the Arm and Summerteeth from Summerteeth Sunken Treasure from BT
  16. Man, so sweet. I missed this the first time around. And they have some strange live chat room too. I'm going out to do some errands, then will start it up from the beginning at 8:30 to listen all the way through. Maybe some of you will be there too...
  17. Great first post, and dead on! Now one of my top priorities in life: more mental snap-shots from live shows. I agree with Dawgsong, reading posts about current tour is making me even more anxious for ATL show.
  18. I was working in Music Plus when this came out in 1983 and from the get go I hated it! Where are they now?
  19. Is this the show with most VCers attending? Looks like a great mix of you will be going. Can't wait to hear reports on the show.
  20. Me too, from around 1978 till 1992 (Human Touch and Lucky Town), then not so much. It is nice to revisit now every once in a while. They're still racing out at the Trestles But that blood it never burned in her veins Now I hear she's got a house up in Fairview And a style she's trying to maintain Well if she wants to see me You can tell her that I'm easily found Tell her there's a spot out `neath Abram's Bridge And tell her there's a darkness on the edge of town Everybody's got a secret Sonny Something that they just can't face Some folks spend their whole lives trying to keep it They c
  21. Cheap white, though some of this soon:
  22. Freakwater is starting to intrigue me. Maybe that will be next purchase after Pneumonia. Thanks.
  23. Perhaps it's time for a Springsteen appreciation thread! Got to go back to the early days..... Sparks fly on E Street when the boy prophets walk it handsome and hot All the little girls' souls grow weak when the man-child gives them a double shot Them schoolboy pops pull out all the stops on a Friday night The teenage tramps in skintight pants do the E Street dance and everything's all right Well the kids down there are either dancing or hooked up in a scuffle Dressed in snakeskin suits packed with Detroit muscle They're doin' the E Street Shuffle Now those E Street brats in twilight duel
  24. Side with Seeds is the ultimate grower. Loving it more and more!
  25. Glad to hear they'll be out on the best, I mean west, coast this tour too!!
