  1. Also was an article in NYTimes about how horrible music biz is these days, but no mention of Wilco....perhaps it's time to start a new thread?
  2. I don't really have a preference, but hoping to bury the sell out thread....
  3. Begin at the beginning: No Depression
  4. I thought I started a similar thread some time ago.... On SBS, it's still this part (agree with YCBTS): I have no idea how this happens All of my maps have been overthrown Happenstance has changed my plans So many times my heart has been outgrown Now everybody
  5. Love the way he sings.... Finally full again So I listen for Your lips to break apart Into words
  6. I once said that Pot Kettle Black does not hold up live compared to the studio version. Can I take that statement back? I was wrong. Thanks.
  7. The cat is out of the bag. Wilco is huge. I love em even more. Can we end this silly thread and move on to more important matters, like how young Jeff looks in my avatar?
  8. Thanks BS, these are quite nice to watch.
  9. The dude abides on his birthday and every day...
  10. One of the most misunderstood songs ever... Born down in a dead man's town The first kick I took was when I hit the ground You end up like a dog that's been beat too much 'Til you spend half your life just covering up [chorus:] Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. Born in the U.S.A. I got in a little hometown jam And so they put a rifle in my hands Sent me off to Vietnam To go and kill the yellow man [chorus] Come back home to the refinery Hiring man says "Son if it was up to me" I go down to see the V.A. man He said "Son don't you understand" [chorus] I had

    Double Take

I usually do a double take on all those lyrics expressing skepticism about knowing oneself, let alone others.... YAMF Can

    starbucks

Did you know that Starbuck is the first mate on the doomed Pequod?
  14. Either Way is a fantastic opener, one of their best after: I Must Be High Misunderstood IATTBYH
  15. Mmmm, a pipe and slippers, with SBS playing in the background... A great interview. Love the gym story, but also confirms my sense that the key line from the entire cd is: "Embracing the situation, is our only chance to be free" "What I think the record is about is an acceptance in terms of being able to see the world the way it is. Maybe this is the first time I've been able to acknowledge those observations."
  16. Faithless Street, again. Tennessee Square.
  17. Speaking of the Eagles....

    Tell me

I love every single freaking song. My least favorite though, is What Light, at the (or is it "teh"?) moment.
  19. A favorite for me too, live and recorded. Writing + dreaming = suicide????
  20. Just saw this too, and loved it! Dark but beautiful, bouncing back and forth between realism and fantasy. Another film that begins with a corpse to add to my growing list... Check out Devil's Backbone if you liked this one.
  21. Should I feel guilty about preordering from Wilcoworld and not buying at local indie store? Maybe I'll buy my third copy from Decatur CD, my favorite independent in Atlanta.....
  22. Before SBS and Faithless Street, BAITUSA was all I was listening to in my car, over and over and over again. It is a brilliant album. I can't wait for the next one either!
  23. Finally got to watch this and loved it. High points: no doubt Walken, a great version and nice illustration of collaborative spirit; Sky Blue Sky and Jeff's story about the parade. Low point: Impossible Germany sounded a bit off, with Nels solo not as sharp and uplifting as usual in this song live and on the cd; also was not so clear about Jeff's commentary after the song (I'll go back and listen but if someone has an idea about what the hell Jeff was trying to say I'd love to hear it); also, On and On and On was cut during the closing credits, I think, which is too bad because it's such a
