Lets drink to the hard working people Lets drink to the lowly of birth Raise your glass to the good and the evil Lets drink to the salt of the earth Say a prayer for the common foot soldier Spare a thought for his back breaking work Say a prayer for his wife and his children Who burn the fires and who still till the earth And when i search a faceless crowd a swirling mass of gray and black and white they don't look real to me in fact, they look so strange Raise your glass to the hard working people Lets drink to the uncounted heads Lets think of the wavering millions Who need leaders but
  2. I got into a conversation with my local independent cd store owner who went to Chastain, an old-time, grey haired, aging hippie who's been around the scene for a while. He was convinced that Jeff hiring Nels and Glenn was the best move for any rock band ever. While that might be highly debatable for many here, it got me thinking of other dramatic personnel changes that transformed rock bands, like when Bruce got rid of Vinnie "Mad Dog" Lopez, David Sancious, and others and hired Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan. I also thought that Mick Taylor was the best thing that ever happened to the Ston
  3. I only know Lanois as a producer (Oh Mercy is definitely one of my favorite Dylan albums, but Unforgettable Fire is what made a mark for me). I will now add him to my list of artists to get after I grow out of my Wilco phase.
  4. If I was stranded on an island and could only take one or the other I would not hesitate:
  5. I loved the full band version played in Charlotte and elsewhere on this tour. Does anyone have an mp3 they can share??? Mucho thanks!
  6. Great song......maybe can be used as an ad for a cemetery chain.
  7. Have to disagree! I'm tempted to head out to Denver for these shows...
  8. Why Would You Wanna Live1111!!!!11! Excellent set, and sounds like another night to remember.
  9. If you beat up, you butcher, and you bleed a man You bang up and badger and blood-let a man And then I come along On the feet of man And halfway laugh and cry About the meat of man And I do what I can To bale string and tie Some ballad truths Up and cured out For the feed of man Folks try to tell me That it's on God's orders That you bleed your man It's on God's good word that you Bleed your man On God's plan print That you dead a man Or spit and curse and whip your man I say I'll help you squeeze and fix yourself up a A new kind of God of some kind One that tells you Fertilize and mul

    Denver

Just curious why they are playing two nights in Denver?? It's a great city, in a beautiful setting, but seems unusual for this tour to be at same place for two nights.
  12. It is, absolutely. I grew up on the freeways of Los Angeles so have a high tolerance for lots of traffic, and lots of idiots.
  13. Caught the whole thing on tv the other night and love this song in particular.
  14. Tracks 1 and 2 always set the tone for the entire album, imo. (Eg: Badlands -> Adam Raised a Cain; or London Calling -> Brand New Cadillac; or Beyond Belief -> Tears Before Bedtime; or Baba O'Riley -> Bargain; etc. ).
  15. Sounds like a great family-fun musical road trip. Enjoy!!
  16. It was a wonderful moment she'll surely never forget, and made for a great performance of Hummingbird!
  17. If I get the damn passport back (I'm one of those people waiting for a renewal!! !!!) I'm supposed to go to Japan at the end of July for a couple weeks (Nagano, Kyoto, and Tokyo--sort of work, but pleasure vacation too ). We are also trying to get to the beach in early July--any cool, out of the way suggestions either in Gulf or Atlantic coast near Georgia? Then Austin in September (I know it's fall, but will stretch summer out as long as possible).
  18. Actually, you're right. Never driven in Florida, but my students tell me south Florida is not really part of the south. North Florida, yes. Where are you again?
  19. Agreed. Are the Black Crowes still together? New singer? Smashing Pumpkins might make it worth it, but I doubt it. Think I'll skip this one.
  20. Whatever Kalle says.... (But secretly hoping that tugmoose gets it right.)
  21. I have to finally learn all this torrent stuff...but I'll get some kind of recording of it on disc soon, I hope.
