  1. There are some great shots there. But in 2 or 3 of them he looks a bit like Eddie Vedder to me.
  2. They certainly stir a certain sense of nostalgia for me.
  3. OK, this one looks pretty damn cool. Stupid guilty please, but I am all over it.
  4. The only argument I can buy for keeping the starters in is that they've already won a Super Bowl recently. Since they already have it, throw caution to the wind and go for perfection. Otherwise, keep 'em healthy for the playoffs.
  5. I currently do not own an electric guitar. I believe that would suit my needs.
  6. My guess is that this is just false hope, but... http://www.examiner.com/x-14041-Charlotte-Health-and-Happiness-Examiner~y2009m12d25-Vic-Chesnutt-death-reports-sent-out-unconfirmed
  7. Lots of whiteness here in Des Moines as well. Merry Xmas all.
  8. Check out the tongue-tied lightning threads. What are your thoughts on God? Obama?
  9. Oh no. Saw him open for Bob Mould a couple of times. This is terrible, terrible news. Let's pull through, Vic!
  10. As my kids would say, "That's saving the earth."
  11. Just to be clear, that's not my opinion, just one someone else stated here a long time ago. I wouldn't be surprised if the band kind of agrees with it. Or, as their catalog grows, there's less room in the setlists for covers. Having said that, I saw them play Fear the Reaper as a closed in West Des Moines, it was fantastic. The drum tech came out and played cowbell.
  12. Better than Stairway to Heaven, or does that belong in the blasphemy thread.
  13. My signature line came just before they went into Color Me Impressed and I Wanna Be Sedated. Long ago. I remember someone saying here that they've outgrown covers. I would love to hear them throw 1 or 2 in a show.
  14. Not bad for a band playing a wedding. The lead guitarist has heard of the the Grateful Dead and Phish, that's for sure. I prefer .
  15. Never head of them, but bonus points for a cool name.
  16. Stereotyping people by their favorite author
  17. Did anyone ever see the "Phantom Edit". Someone re-edited it to focus on the darkest parts of the story and it got rave reviews on the Interwebs. Bad movie? Yes. Worth it for the light saber fight at the end with some of John Williams' best music ever? Yeah.
  18. Surprised by 2 things. 1) You answered before Mt. Bed, 2) It took either of you 23 minutes to answer.
  19. I agree with a lot of this. Favre doesn't know his limitations. BUT, the Carolina loss had next to nothing to do with Favre. It had a lot to do with Julius Peppers and an underperforming Vikings offensive line and defense. Edit: You should know, I thought in August and I think now that in the long run, bringing Favre aboard was a mistake. He may wear down and unless we win the Super Bowl, it just isn't worth the turmoil. You just can blame Sunday's loss on him.
  20. There are some great songs on the Instigator. The Believer was not good. Haven't heard the newest one yet, but I did just recently order it. Old 97s music has provided me with so much, that I figure buying his solo work, even if it isn't great is worth it.
  21. That reminds me of when, during my 4 year olds' nap time, I was folding laundry and watching Star Wars Robot Chicken. My daughter came in and before I could turn it off, saw I was watching Star Wars. I told her it was Star Wars for grown ups only. That didn't make sense to her.
  22. Cool hipsters will totally dig Booker T. That one really doesn't make sense.
  23. SC has some pretty strange liquor laws, doesn't it? That may be part of it. When my wife went there for a wedding 15 or so years ago, she said bars served all mixed drinks with airplane size bottles, I guess to keep bartenders for making drinks too strong. There are a few beers in Iowa that aren't distributed because the tax rate goes up with the percentage of alcohol, or something like that.
