The Abba Voyage Hologram show in London tomorrow!

Saw Nora O'Conner, Uwade, and Andrew Bird at Out of Space in Evanston last night. A truly sublime night of music. I've listened to Bird lots but never seen him live outside of sitting in during Wilco's 2008 Winter residency. Unbelievable. A feast for ears, eyes, and soul. Uwade is a young singer-songwriter. Only a few things out there online, but check her out. I hope she goes places.

Spent a lot of time outside in DC Tuesday-Thursday supervising a school trip. I felt it. NYC looked 5x worse.

Nels, Jeff, and Pat taking turns soloing on this during the 2008 Winterlude night 2 was a lot of fun.

One of the Winterlude 2008 shows was the first smokeless (mostly -- I saw a couple of guys clandestinely smoking a cigarette the way most smoke a joint) show I attended. Illinois passed the law before Iowa, where I live. It was wonderful. That trip was also the first time I handled a smart phone, my friend's iPhone.

I really enjoyed this movie. I feel like Blanchett was, from time to time, just over the top enough to create some humor. A bit more subtle than, say, J.K. Simmons in Whiplash. I had to do some Googling to fully understand the ending, but also thought it was great.

This was a fun read and may inspire me to read more Dickens. I've read A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities. I think Oliver Twist and Great Expectations are now on my list.

NYT put out a list of 15 Verlaine/Television essentials. The live version of Little Johnny Jewel (Live at the Old Waldorf) really showed his influence on Nels.
