They've been showing a thing on Manson on TV lately. I knew he was a musician and about his ties with Dennis Wilson, but I didn't realize that really the killing was a result of him getting rejected by a record exec - the house that Tate/Polanski lived in was where he dropped off a record executive who never called him back or offered him a deal. Later he moved out and Tate/P moved into that house. Has anyone heard his music? They played a snippet of one song.

most albums now can't fit on on vinyl because they're over 40 mins or so. I always thought that was about the max, but Dylan's albums up until Blonde were all on a single vinyl, right? -

I've seen the downloads, but how is he doing the vinyl singles? Is he going to wait and sell them as a box, or is he putting one out every time he has the downloads? -
Have there been any reports of them printing more Mono Box Sets in the US? Are they officially sold out now?
-
i wonder if there is some purpose for it being quieter than the rest of the album or if they just didn't really care about George's song and didn't care about it being lower (lennon/mcc).
-
is Long Long Long still really quiet on the White Album remaster?
-
i see the deluxe double disc versions of several of their albums pretty frequently - how happy were you (anyone who bought it) with them?

there's something special about Hard Days Night to me - all originals i guess. i would probably say HDN is my favorite pre-Revolver. maybe we don't agree on Rubber Soul then - Nowhere Man through The Word is kinda weak to me - and then the finale. Michelle is beautiful imo. quite like Girl, too.

I agree. It's not bad by any measure, but a lot of the songs sound 'hoaky.' Run For Your Life really ends it on a bad note to me. If I Needed Someones is so beautiful.

mono pointless? *shocked*j have you read any editorials reviewing the sets or know the history of the recordings?
-
is Amazon the cheapest for Mono? ordering online also saves tax.
-
if you flip a Mono switch while listening to something in Stereo i think sometimes you can cancel things out.

I wouldn't think it would be. The Two Virgins cover was on full display in the Beatle book put out a few years ago.

I finally listened to the new single - I was surprised. I haven't heard them be that produced/layered maybe ever, butttttt I'm not sure that's bad. It definitely makes me interested in the new album. I never picked up alvacado. The single is catchy - I wonder how PJ would react if it was a hit single playing alongside Daughtry and the like (not that it's that bad).

i've had that response. it's like a bank. if you do something at the end of the day it won't be posted until the next work day. at a place like Tower if you do something on Friday you might not hear back until monday. did they have an 800 number to call?
-
you ordered yesterday - Sunday? most businesses, even online, are not as quick on weekends, and usually not at full staff.

i totally missed the Fallon performance of The Ark earlier this year, but i can't seem to find it anywhere. the links to youtube vids have been taken down. anyone know where i can stream it online at?
-
i wonder what will happen to all the older CD versions...you go to any Best Buy and there will be a whole rack to those almost. i would think they would lower the price, but i have no idea.

I didn't think about the Parlophone/Capitol being different other than tracklistings/titles. I think in Geoff Emerick's book he said the original US LP's were mastered in the US - but i'm not a 100% sure, it's been a while since i read it. so if you bought a copy of Revolver from the UK/parlophone and then in the US/Capitol back in '66, not only would there be a different tracklisting, but different mastering - not a 100% sure though. OH Well, at the end of the day, you still get the songs and most/to all of the same parts (some may be louder or better represented one way), which is the

Let's talk about the new Fiery Furnaces album
bigideas replied to tongue-tied's topic in Someone Else's Song
fyi - Thrill Jockey has all their artists' albums for free stream, so i listened through. it didn't knock me off my feet or anything. they seem to be an artist i can never fully love what they do, yet i still want to check them out any time they put out something new. -
talk about some merch table! never seen that many items. he's been the game a while though.

did we ever address: are these Stereo mixes the same as the CD versions we've had - just remastered - or totally new mixes? also - were the Cd's that have been out for all these years the exact mixes you would find if you bought the stereo LP back in the day - or were they remixed back then (in the 80's when the cd's came out)?
