  1. http://otherpeoplessongs.tumblr.com/ “Other People’s Songs Vol. 1” is a collection of covers recorded on the weekend of August 21-22, 2010 (with the aid of a four-track cassette recorder and a Coles-4038 ribbon microphone). It is available to you (the world) via the inter-webs for FREE. These recordings came about spontaneously, and we wanted to share them in the same manner. Look for another one around Winter time. “Thanks, Brochacho” - DJ/RS * CREDITS: Damien Jurado: singing, guitars, percussion, fx Richard Swift: singing, guitars, bass, drums, various keyboards, fx Josh Ottum
  2. i picked up Familial today. haven't got a chance to listen through it, but he credits Jeff with arrangement on one song.
  3. i don't recognize that song. was that footage originally put with that music? if not, what is that from? john and miles davis playing basketball? andy warhol?
  4. there is a funny bit in those radio shows where he puts the tv on, mutes it, and then makes up a song to what is happening on the tv. "i read the news today, oh, boy!"
  5. can't think of how it goes at the moment. there is one of the later singles that sounds almost exactly like Imagine, right? i want to say on that Lennon radio show when he's demo-ing you can hear Yoko pointing it out to him. btw - now knowing the big difference in some of the Beatles music from Mono to Stereo recordings - is it that dramatic with some of the other bands of that era - stones, dylan, etc? i see they are putting out the mono box of dylan. of course, he didn't experiment with studio techniques like they did (he experimented more in word/song form), so i don't know how differe
  6. i wasn't big on his post Beatles stuff until there was a blog that had those radio shows that played his demos. a friend had given me Lennon Legend and most of the songs on there sounded a lot a like, so i figured he was kinda one note, but after getting the albums i saw that is not the case.
  7. if you've listened through it, what do you think? *spoilers* there are some curves in there - the one song that extends on for a while with just a beat and some other things i can't think of right now. didn't blow me away or anything. i've only listened once though.
  8. their website said Best Buy had the deluxe edition with bonus 4 track ep. i was expecting that to mean you could buy a normal one, and then pay more for the deluxe. i was very surprised to see that $11.99 is the sticker price for the deluxe at Best Buy and that was all i saw. there were 2 copies here. thought i'd tell this here as i figured there are other people like me who always try to get the bonus tracks when they can.
  9. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129001690 Wow, I have been pleasantly surprised by what I've heard. He's on Nonesuch, too, so hopefully I can find it easily next week. I guess you know Glenn Kotche is on the record...
  10. no Nothing Up My Sleeves? does any recording besides the YHF demo of that exist?
  11. i can't remember if he Tweets different stuff than what he puts on FB - i don't know if he's serious about liking Predators and wanting to work with John Mayer.
  12. i think on Facebook he said he only liked 2 of the song now.
  13. his last album had a huge special website subscription thing, right? surely he would not already shut that down - i bet that would piss off all the people who paid a lot of dough on it (i don't remember the cost).
  14. yeah, that is a great episode. i don't remember it being that long with no one moving - i wonder if someone made it longer fixing on a freeze frame, but then looping the sound.
  15. i have a feeling it wouldn't be something i'd want to listen to a lot, but i do kinda at least want to hear it once.
  16. i will be interested to see the tracklistings. the last remasters have a few bonus tracks. no experimental box or cd with all their really weird recordings like Two Virgins, etc?
  17. there is some website where if you put any url in you can download what ever music, video, etc that is on that page regardless if they give you the option to download. i haven't used it in so long i can't remember. that was how i used to download stuff from Myspace.
  18. no love for the Batman soundtrack? i recently got the Scandulous Sex EP on vinyl. unfortunately my player is messed up (the record doesn't look scratched to me) and i can't hear it right....i want to hear Kim Bassinger dirty talk!
  19. "This is a deeply personal journey for me, it's been excruciating," she said. "I've been archiving for five years -- 35 years, really. Throwing cassettes and letters in drawers, little things and pieces of paper that you find that say, 'Goats on my roof.' You think, What does that mean?" the Goats on my roof bit was funny to me.
  20. i wish he'd do like Nonesuch and include a CD with all vinyl. cd's themselves have little cost i would think. i like vinyl, but unfortunately i can't listen to it on my long commutes to and from work everyday - where i get most of my music listening done.
  21. wow, that looks really cool. i hope he takes that much care with the packaging when he releases (if) the bootlegged stuff.
  22. i hope he's testing out something he cares less about as his first major thing, and then will start putting out more of the music he's known for.

  24. those songs sound pretty nice. i wonder if any wilco era unrecorded jay tunes will make it - Nothing Up My Sleeves is one of my favorites.
