can't believe it's been almost a year since i bought Everywhere. i think i only got around to listening to it once or twice - not because i don't like it, i just don't sit down and listen to vinyl too often. interestingly enough, just last week i was at the same store and saw Stephen Stills 2 and Reactor on the floor in the $1 stacks so i got them. 2 actually sounded pretty good, but i'm guessing it was in the $1 for all the scratches. Reactor.........for other reasons.

that has always been one of my favorites on the album that rarely gets mentioned. before Green came out, remember how they posted new demos pretty frequently? were there some of those songs that should have been on Green? to me, Green could have made a good EP because half of it seems to repeat the other stuff. i thought Maladroit was a lot better though.

didn't he also talk about some more epic songs? i know he mentions it in the Alone booklet. i think he talks about writing a 6 min song. i thought this thread was revived for his recent soccer match...

great news. i never was able to download the DW tracks, analogman. even at my dad's faster speed it would have taken a long time. i'll definitely be picking up the physical copy though.

After listening to Meet the Eels I realize I have underestimated Mr. E. I guess I never gave him much chance because he sounded like a gruffier Beck and the amount of profanity he used. I heard songs here and there, but this is the first time to listen to the songs on headphones. I didn't realize how ambitious sonically he was. It's pretty crazy that Novacaine was ever a hit really. Blinking Lights isn't really that ambitious sonically, so hearing some of the other stuff he's done is an eyeopener. Now I'm wanting to hear the other albums. I just listened through Disc One of Blinking Lights.

i'm excited about the US tour. i'm a shoo-in for Dallas and may try to make Houston as well. hopefully the tickets don't go on sale in the middle of the night like last time. i've got a weird feeling like it may be my last chance to see Radiohead. like they may start liking the streaming video more and play rare shows in England or in their own studio. i also wonder if they'll vary sets much to merit the extra trouble of a second show i'm assuming will be back to back dates. the older songs they played on the webcast were the same bunch they have been playing, granted i haven't seen them in a

that would be quite a long straight through listen.

i've heard some of his stuff, saw Levity (which he did the score for) and bought Blinking Lights when it came out. i think Blinking might be better as a single disc. i'm a sucker for free t-shirt deals, so i pre-ordered through the site to get both new releases plus the shirt. they don't call it 'free,' but the price is the same as both releases combined. one of the songs off of Blinking had the exact chord changes of a very popular song - i'll have to get it out to know the title. some sounded very Beck. there are some very nice songs though and the instrumentals are cool.

i don't think Panda Bear is as weird as some of your are thinking that haven't heard it. really the "weirdness" is that he's taken the Pet Sounds song format, but extended it. really the songs could be easily edited in 2:30, 3 min songs. there are some weird soundscapes here and there, but Bwilson did that with Smile too - just analog instead of digital. i just got Strawberry Jam for Christmas - my first Animal Collective experience - and i could definitely see someone attributing the "weirdness" title to it. not sure i've ever heard someone jump octaves and scream like Avey Tare. Panda Bea

Here's something I wondered - the list of all the artists in the album booklet - did he sample from all of those but manipulate it to the point where they couldn't sue him? Some of those tracks sonically sound so close to Brian Wilson circa Pet Sounds that it's uncanny. If you took an isolated drum track from one album and added with tambourine on another, etc, you could make something that no one could really prove where the sample came from. That's what I'm getting at.

this is selling for 7.99 and the packaging looks really cool - i've already seen one commercial. i wonder if there is any different artwork than the Discbox or if it's just the same on a smaller scale?
-
i think if the record was the exact same length wise, order wise, but just had more track stops it would be a lot better to me. some of the tracks go on and on and i don't want to listen to it every time. also, it's been awhile since i've listened to it, but i seem to remember one track starting out with about 4 mins of ambient industrial sounds and then turning into beautiful Pet Sounds-esque pop. if i could skip right to that i think that would be great.

Cuomo Demos to Include Songs from "Songs From The Black Hole"
bigideas replied to bsr8j's topic in Someone Else's Song
no love for the original song he submitted for Angus? Chess starts off hoaky, but i was really surprised where it went. also surprised that in the liners it says he wrote a 6 min epic tune here recently. hopefully it makes the record. maybe i like it because: a - i got it as a gift and invested no money b - i write and record songs at home myself, so maybe i can see potential in demo recordings about Black Hole - are there more tracks that have leaked that didn't even make this release? correct me if i'm wrong, but some of the tracks on Pinkerton were part of Black Hole originally, right? -
how true. i also wish the lyrics would be seperate and let the artwork be connected. i don't think the artwork booklet is one to look at again and again. 4 Minute Warning got a lot better than the bootlegs i had heard. Last Flowers have slightly hoaky lyrics, but the "relief" part really kicks Karma Police (acoustic guitar/piano) style. they really sterillized Up On the Ladder. i wish they would release the HTTT era recording - i'm assuming it's more in tempo with the pre-HTTT live version.

cleared internet and quicktime cache and still have the "Thanks I Get" download option. any other guesses?

i have not in east texas.

still haven't got it in east texas. seems like everything takes an extra day or two to get here though.

Low - Drums and Guns got pretty high reviews when it came out in March, but it's not even mentioned on any of the 3 lists posted so far. It's one I kind of have in the back of my mind to pick up at the music store, but I always get something else. I think I'll put that and Andrew Bird's latest on my Christmas list

I'm guessing all copies come with the full album in demo versions unlisted?
-
Richard Swift - Dressed Up for the Let Down should be somewhere... The Besnard Lakes Are the Dark Horse anyone? i also second the White Williams and Panda Bear nods. and the Coconut Records (jason schwartzman's solo project) album is pretty good - haven't got to listen to it much.
-
i got to the site, and have the download circle up, but see no option for downloading the ep. i see the same as when i downloaded The Thanks...

what happened to that thing that was posted earlier this year saying they were releasing the last great Beatles track? it was right around the time Paul's new album originally came out.

forgive me if this has been in another thread, but Paste Magazine is doing basically the same thing - name your own price for a subscription minimal $1. i took them up on it. quicktime schmicktime. none of that on my work pc. i'm sure it will be bootlegged and put up on youtube soon.
