My dad would always say "bat trees" instead of batteries and it would drive us crazy. He insisted he was saying it right but I could never tell if he was doing it to mess with us or if he actually thought he was saying it right.

I pronounce the word "straight" wrong. When I say it, it rhymes with "tight". I was a senior in high school before my mother pointed out that I say it wrong and that I always had.

The downtown branch of the Ann Arbor public library has a great book sale every weekend from September-April. I try to get up there once a month, at least. They always have tons of classics, I think from being a college town and a lot of students have to read them for school. They also have a lot of newer books in really good shape. In Saline they have a book sale and I'm not sure if it's only once a month or if it's also every weekend, but I went once and was not impressed. My black cat is an indoor cat who goes outside a couple times a day to play. He did play in some mud a week or so ago and I just made him stay outside until it was dry and it brushed right off. He's always clean and shiny and has never had fleas. He's never had a bath either.

I must hate the Earth because I got too wrapped up in watching Legally Blonde to remember Earth Hour.

My cat will follow me if I take it outside on a walk. No leash needed. It will also follow any other people outside walking whether they like it or not. My cat is really a dog in disguise. In related news, have you seen this video?

I never tip for take out either. I didn't know you were supposed to. The only place I get take out is the sushi place and all the waitress does is put it in a plastic bag. The chef puts the sushi in the little plastic takeout containers and makes it look all pretty. To me, it's like paying the cashier to bag my groceries.

When my mom was 17, she was a server at a family type restaurant. She said on Sunday mornings the after church crowd would come in and there was always this group who had about 10 people in their party and they were notorious for never leaving a tip. The first time my mom had their table she tried extra hard to get them to leave a tip and when they left, she saw a $20 bill sticking out from under a napkin. She pulled it out and it was a piece of paper with the corner made to look like a $20 bill. It was an invitation to their church. She was pissed!!

I'm a generous tipper when it's deserved, usually leaving about 20-25%. I go to the same cafe once every two weeks with one of my kids for breakfast. The girls who wait tables there usually have a Diet Coke waiting for me by the time I sit down and if I say "I'll have the usual" they know exactly what I want. You don't get that kind of service many places.

He didn't even have to let the guy go. He could have loaded them up in the police car and headed up to the hospital. If the story wasn't legit, he could have dealt with it then.
