  4. While I wouldn't get a vintage off ebay, there are a few very good dealers who can be trusted. Elderly is one. Not sure your price range, but this seems a very good guitar: GIBSON LG-2 (1942-45) or this: MARTIN D-18 (1966)
  5. This would be my recommendation. I am not sure if you were implying a new or vintage, but I recommend a new one. You get what you pay for (to a point. Law of diminishing returns kicks in at about 5k IMHO - anything more and you just pay for bling. Not sure your budget). The 'vintage' market is a bit tough. I feel you end up paying more for an inferior guitar. If, however, you are set on a vintage, here are my thoughts. I would avoid guitars from the 1970s. Gibson and Martin were worried about repairs and beefed up bracing and construction - killing tone in the process. Gibson (and maybe Mar
  6. Hmmmmm... I have the following: Kamera [ Open D - D A D F# A D (no capo) ] Radio Cure [ Open D - D A D F# A D (no capo) ] Pot Kettle Black [ Open D - D A D F# A D (no capo) ] None in DADFAD or DADAAD. However, these songs (mostly) get played on the bottom three strings - DADxxx; therefore, you could almost use any of these tunings interchangeably.

  9. I really miss the Tower in NB (#21). I was such a great store. Great place to get classical and jazz. Still drive by and get sad... EDIT: I remember buying my first DRA CD there (Gold).
  10. It sure is. I love slotted headstocks - so classic. How does it sound? Is it rosewood or mahogany?
  11. While I did not necessarily give KEOC a negative initial review, I was very skeptical. I really loved Sam's early lo-fi / acoustic stuff. The Kitchen Sink arrangements were something I had to get past. But once I ignored my expectations and accepted the record as-is (for what it is), I have to admit that I really like it. Sam is, after all, a great songwriter and this shows thru any arrangement. Songs like Rabbit Will Run, Big Burned Hand and Monkeys Uptown are very enjoyable. I am espescially fond of the the closer: Your Fake Name. The coda of "We will become..." is mesmerizing. So far,
  12. Yes. And the one listed as "? - new song" is a early acoustic version of "Panthers". Very cool. The recording is so-so. It seems mike was placed next to cash register, tip jar or something.
