absolutely, what happened to thinking 30 or 40 for a concert was a lot, not that is considered cheap
-
i guess i could have put it in there. it's funny checking the chicago shows on ticketmaster, there are none of the lower price range tickets available because they sold out, however a random search got me 5th row tickets for night one, and 2nd row tickets for night two. of course, as a pair it would run close to $600 so, no thanks. i think that says a lot when you sell theaters out from the back to the front. what a mess

First off, yes this is probably a pointless post, not groundbreaking by any means, moreso just frustration. I really wanted to see Neil Young live on his upcoming tour but the tickets levels went as follows $57 $78 $118 %192 $275 I was absolutely amazed to see he would be selling tickets for that much. What's worse is that tickets went on sale at 10 and the cheapest tickets were already sold out. However from checking a minute ago there were still some good $192 seats haha. At least I got 6th row tickets for my morning jacket, which ended up being cheaper than the cheapest neil young seat.

i agree. i don't really like looping at all though, it seems so gimmicky. i saw andrew bird play before wilco at summerfest and the whole time i kept thinking, why not just bring a violin player or a guitar out with you. you can play multiple instruments, great, i get it, but in a live setting it comes across as a little egotistical to me

hey everyone, so while i was in nashville i recorded a video for one of the instrumental songs i have. i think it turned out pretty good! let me know what you think. i know the drums are a bit messy, but any feedback is welcome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE_hHR1j-YQ&feature=recentlik

I know they've been talked about a bit before on this website, but I just started listening to them over the summer and man, what a band! Doug Martsch is a genius. I saw them at 1st avenue in minneapolis and was surprised it wasn't sold out for being such a small venue, I wonder why they aren't more popular. Anyways, what are some of your favorite songs? for me, the whole album Perfect From Now On has been kicking my ass lately, velvet waltz is beautiful.

Hey guys, I am looking to move from chicago to nashville in the next few weeks and am visiting nashville next week to look for jobs and apartments. I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or even possibly meet for a few drinks while i'm down there to get a good feel for the city?

you know, i was absolutely blown away by the flaming lips new album embryonic. it was amazing a band that's been around for that long can reinvent themselves and keep from sounding dated. i don't know what direction wilco will go in, but i'd love see them do it with the same kind of enthusiasm the flaming lips did i mean they have the musicianship to do a lot of things. that doesn't mean they need to overdo it, i just want to hear exciting and maybe a little more complex than some of the stuff they have done recently, even though i love that sound as well.

hmm...since rust never sleeps i would say Freedom Ragged Glory Harvest Moon Chrome Dreams II are all real solid albums Greendale Prairie Wind Silver and Gold Living With War are all pretty good too sure he's had some mis-steps, but really i will never fault someone for doing what they want to do when it comes to something like this. i mean christ, the man's put out something like 35 albums! how many artists not named bob dylan can say that?

I never knew a man could tell so many lies He had a different story for every set of eyes. How can he remember who he's talkin' to? 'Cause I know it ain't me, and I hope it isn't you. Well, I'm up in T.O. keepin' jive alive, And out on the corner it's half past five. But the subways are empty And so are the cafes. Except for the Farmer's Market And I still can hear him say: You're all just pissin' in the wind You don't know it but you are. And there ain't nothin' like a friend Who can tell you you're just pissin' in the wind. those aren't g

wow those were really good. i love how aside from when the guy is singing you can't understand a word of it, but when the first notes of impossible germany start it's so universal. i'm glad guitars don't speak in different languages.

i'm looking for some good book recommendations. i love vonnegut, tom robbins and christopher moore. lately i've read cannery row-steinbeck, high fidelity-hornby and survivor-chuck p. i'm looking for books about people trying to find themselves, or something of the sort, but am open to any that would fit with the group i mentioned thanks!

anyone have the setlist so far?

Umphrey's Mcgee covers WIlco last night for Valentines Day
hwllo replied to smc2411's topic in Just A Fan
i used to listen to jam bands, like moe and i've even seen UM before. i don't think they are bad, i just kind of get bored with them. i like songs more than jams. ...that being said, i still love the grateful dead because i feel they wrote songs and jammed to them, not the other way around -

i'm not really a fan of any of those jam bands, but i guess this is ok. i mean it's basically note for note the same as the original only the singing is relatively boring. i would have enjoyed it more if they made it their own a little more -
i just realized it was a smaller place. i think it depends a lot on your surroundings. i don't think you can make the call until you are in the building and feel it out if that makes sense. but, if you really want to stand i say go for it. it is a concert after all

interesting topic! this is tough though, i'm not going to pick specific versions or put them in any order, but these are my favorites. it was hard leaving some off ashes of american flags in a future age (especially live versions over the last few years) at least that's what you said spiders shake it off everlasting everything (love the ending, absolutely beautiful) one wing hell is chrome theologians muzzle of bees honorable mention goes to one by one
