  1. Great point. There were several Wilco songs I did not like until I "experienced" them live.
  2. Great show. We were treated to some rare songs (these days) live (Poor Places, How to Fight Loneliness, VIA freakin' CHICAGO!) and great sound. I felt that the band was a little worn down by the touring. Nels seemed a little subdued. Glenn was spot-on of course, and it seemed like Tweedy had to force himself into a good mood which really surfaced as the show progressed. Overall, well worth the four- hour drive and lack of sleep on a school night.
  3. Welcome to "Gloom and Doom" hosted by you guys... Have a little faith in the Tweedster.
  4. Toungue-tied, I'm gonna have to agree with you there with the whole KTV and I'm a Wheel stuff- vibey album. I probably listed I'm a Wheel as my least fave on AGIB, but just b/c IMO, it doesn't fit with the rest of the album (still a good song). Now, put thos two tracks together on a punk-ish, screaming (Nels) guitar-fest, and I think you'd have a damn good album. Maybe, I'd also add the song that appeared on the SpongeBob soundtrack.
  5. It's getting a little tense in here...over an album that has yet to be finalized and released, and, more importantly, by a band we all love.
  6. As long as John Stirrat played bass (what he does best) and doesn't sing. Hell, he could even write a few songs, just don't sing.
  7. Man. Maybe I need to listen to this record again. I TRIED to like it when I bought it b/c IMO, ATYCLB was a great, great album. But it just didn't happen for me.
  8. Is it really sad? Jeff can be pretty biting to the crowd for "participation;" maybe he just wants it to be clear that it is okay to sing an echo. Either way, it's definitely not sad. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, and I respect it.
  9. Good point, tandy. Here, here. AGIB rocks.
  10. I'll be there. Show number two. I'm stoked. Play whatever; I'll enjoy it.

    First Show

I don't think that I'm completely off base by saying it will be one of, if not the, best concerts you'll see. Welcome aboard.
  12. You realize, tandylacker, that these are demos, intended to be "finalized" in the the studio. Additionally, the reason why the YHF that we know and love today sounds the way it does (that is, different than the demos) is due to the firing of Bennett and the subsequent O'Rourke mastering of the project. I really enjoy both sets of demos, ST and YHF, and see them both as interesting conversations in the development of their work.
  13. A.M. - Shouldn't Be Ashamed/It's Just That Simple Being There - Sunken Treasure/Misunderstood (just b/c I like the KTV version so much) MAv1 - CA Stars/Eisler On the Go ST - She's A Jar/Candy Floss MAv2 - Remember the Mtn Bed/Feed of Man YHF - War On War/(if I have to choose)Ashes of American Flags AGIB - Company In My Back/I'm A Wheel KTV - Misunderstood/Via Chicago Interesting thread; neat to see what others like and dislike.
  14. I just got an email from Amazon saying that it would be delayed until Nov 1 (I had already preordered it there). I promptly popped over to Wilcoworld.net and preordered it to arrive on my doorstep Oct. 24. Be aware.
  15. Great disc. Probably preaching to the choir, but I just found it recently. Since finding Wilco two years ago, this is the first CD I've popped in and not immediately wanted to pop it back out to listen to Wilco. Check it out if you haven't.

    Adult Head

I'd say it would be impossible in germany. Sorry.
  17. Sweet. Just preordered mine... Thanks for the post.
  18. Got a hold of 'em and have given it a quick once through. Not as varied as the YHF Demos, but still interesting nonetheless. I really appreciate being privy to Wilco's writing process. They are really open to us in that aspect what with all the demos, EPs and documentaries.
  19. That's cool...I'm looking for stripped down versions. Sometimes I like the "produced" sound of Summerteeth, other times I don't, but I like the songs. Thanks for the info.
  20. I've heard talk of the Summerteeth demos and was just wondering if they were as insightful and valuable and, well, worth it, as the YHF demos are. I'm wondering if I should do the legwork and track them down.
  21. Enjoyed the article...thanks for the link.
  22. I agree. I dislike On & On & On in its current arrangement.
  23. What a great band chock full of talent. Good for them to know when enough is enough. To this day, the first time I saw them live remains of the best shows I've seen. I would definitely dig seeing them again.
