  1. I recently learned of these DVDs and instantly ordered the Chicago version b/c Wilco was on it. Other than their preformance of "Muzzle of Bees," which was incredible, the other performances showed some good musicianship, but weak vocals IMO. What a great and novel idea, though. I really like this series and would like to see the others. I know one just came out like last week... Those of you who have seen the others, what do you think? Are they worth watching?
  2. Here is a question to all you Wilco "old timers" (but first some background): I was listening to the AGIB Tour EP live tracks the other day (which, when I first got them totally rocked), and they sounded just, I don't know, flat and like something was missing. I chalked that "something missing" up to Nels Cline. I'm pretty sure he didn't play on the Tour EP; if he did, it was pretty damn subdued. Of course about a year later KTV came out, I saw them live and, of course, was introduced to the awesomeness that is Nels' guitar playing abilities. Anyhoo, my question is this: What do you al
  3. Section ORC4, row E, seats 1-3 Easy for me as well...once I overcame my mild retardation to realize that 10 CDT is 11 EDT and not 9 EDT...and I teach America's future. Pretty excited about going. It will be a bit of an afteschool roadtrip for me. Luckily, I gain an hour going down. Boy that next day at work will be an experience though. Oh well, what's life without an adventure here or there?
  4. Planning on getting tickets to the AL show tomorrow...anybody have any info about the venue in Huntsville?
  5. Just found out you can only skip a few songs (4 or 5) songs per hour, so go easy on the skipping.
  6. Has anybody else checked this out yet? Just go to this site and type in your favorite band or song (obviously Wilco or a Wilco song) and then "teach" the program waht you like by rating it. You'll listen to streaming audio that sounds pretty good (I've listened to piss-poor streamed audio before and this is a welcome change), and then rate it thumbs up or down. Based on what you decide, it will queue up another song based on your prefs. I'm having fun with it, hope you all can enjoy it too. By the way, it is a totally free site, requiring a free registration step. Pandora Internet Radi

    Wilco sign

Yeah, went to Myrtle a couple weeks back and ran across a Wilco truck stop while listening to AGIB. Had to do a double take; thought the Wilco was taking over my mind!
  8. Awesome. Okay. Imagine if you were walking down the street in front of this house and heard these guys rockin out in the living room of some delapidated house. Or, better yet, imagine being in the living room hearing these guys rockin out. Thanks for sharing.
  9. They can come on back to Knoxville and play the historic Tennessee Theatre again. This time, Tweedy, I promise to keep all a-holes from rushing onto the stage during the last encore. What would we be without wishful thinking...
  10. I found this message board while I was listening to the live webcast, then proceeded to listen to the show and talk about it with complete strangers. It was awesome.
  11. I've just unearthed a new (for me) band from down under called Augie March. I'm really diggin' their Strage Bird album...I've yet to get my paws on anything else of theirs. For those curious enough, you should check 'em out. If you know 'em already, good for you.
  12. I wish I had the 10 minutes or so of my life back that it took me to read through that post...
  13. Yeah. So when are they gonna hit the studio and record this thing? Anybody heard?
  14. Well played. I laughed.
  15. I'd like to hear people's take on some songs. I know Tweedy has stated that music is very personal to the listener, so, obviously your own interpretation is unique and everybody doesn't have to agree/like it. I'd like to hear 'em. Any song, any album, etc. I'll start. My take on ALTWYS is that the couple is going through a rough patch (purple black eye) about something. The song starts off quiet b/c the narrator is coming to his/her partner (haven't decided if the beater is a man or woman) sort of with his/her tail b/w the legs in a tender moment replete with tears. That moment q
  16. Why the filming? Upcoming DVD? (fingers crossed...) While I'm thinking about it, did anyone else read that the shows recorded at the Vic in Chicago (audio was released as Kicking Television) were going to be released on DVD? Am I just dreaming? Are there any more questions I can ask?
  17. This is an interesting thread to me because I was just divulging some of this info to my buddies the other day on a road trip to the beach. Not about my age and occupation of course but about how I found Wilco and why I like them. 27 I get to be a kid all day and then bum around in the summer (I teach middle school). Married; wife doesn't really dig 'em (probably cause I listen to them nonstop). Ordered YHF from a CD club in '04 because I had heard of them vaguely and I wanted to expand my listening tastes. I had no idea how much I would like them. Anyway, listened to YHF for like 6
  18. "Spiders"...but apparently things have changed according to the quote below and the picture to the left.
  19. Just came across this thread and seen how many times ol' boots has uploaded these files...You deserve some award. Go buy yourself a brew, and put it on my tab, okay? I've also just come across these engineer's demos. I've had the other demo collection for quite awhile. I feel that they are interesting from the standpoint that we are able to see the conversation and the "destruction" of each song by Tweedy and Co. I do feel, however, that the commercially available and released YHF is the best version. I think I read (maybe in Kot's book) Stirratt said that the original demos (with Coo
  20. I enjoyed the book. I felt that Kot's writing wasn't the best; yeah, maybe he could've used an editor. Dramatized? Sure, a little. Interesting? Damn straight. I echo an earlier poster's sentiment: I want to know the current dynamic with the addition of Pat and Nels, the departure of Leroy and the recording process of AGIB. I would recommend it to any Wilco fan.
  21. It's called "Turpentine," but you can't hear it on the radio. Actually, you can't hear it anywhere you go...
  22. There are two other tracks that you can download if you put your cd into your computer's drive, "Panthers," and "Kicking Television." I think that maybe you can download the live versions of three other songs that way as well (ALTWYS, Handshake and Late Greats), but that may just be iTunes. Speaking of iTunes, if you don't have the commercial cd, you may just download those five tracks from there, 'course you'll have to pay for 'em...
  23. It's been said before, but deserves being said again: Remember the Mountain Bed.
