the trip from melbourne to hobart is just over an hour flight. if you like seeing green trees and stuff, tasmania might be worth it, although its the coldest state in the country. the winters here arent like american ones. the average june daily temp range for melbourne is 6'C to 13'C you wont see any snow unless you go to the ski resorts which are in victoria and new south wales. they're about a 3 or 4 hour drive from melbourne, depending which one you go to

3 nights in cairns might be a bit much, but i havent been there. sydney & melbourne are the 2 most happening cities. sydney has the harbour area (circular quay) where there's lots to do and the harbour bridge and opera house. the CBD area is a bit of a maze so make sure you have a map!. melbourne has Southbank and Docklands where there's lots of restaurants/bars. the CBD in melbourne is much easier to navigate area since all streets are parallel to eachother. hobart is quite nice. nothing much to do in adelaide really (heh, even wilco didnt stop over there in april but they went to pe

sure the usual suspects get played at every show, but there is variety there lately. i never thought Box full of letters or Too far apart would be played with the full band again.. seeing 3 consecutive shows in april, it was great to hear mountain bed, when the roses bloom again, acuff rose, via chicago, misunderstood and one by one over that period
