It was great and fun and I'm glad I was there for it... but I thought some of the song choices odd, and there were not many big singalongs (which I kinda thought they were going for?), or if there were appropriate songs, did the audience choose to keep quiet so they could hear the show? And also no real rarities. I wonder if they would do a plugged-in acoustic show (MTV Unplugged style) if that would make the sound bigger, and elicit more audience participation. Still, I'd be up for it again, now that I have a certain level of expectation.

Well, they actually played 94 across to be precise, according to setlist.fm, across the five shows. Subtract 10 for 2 drumz/space each night, and it was 84. but, point taken! I listened to Scarlet Begonias from this weekend a few times in a row last night, thought it was awesome. Agreed on some of the not-so-well-chosen song selections too.

You're welcome! Thanks for chiming in =)

Jeff seemed pretty exuberant all weekend. He was particularly hearty in greeting fans at the book-signing. John & Jeff celebrating 20 years of Wilco. I think I enjoyed Sunday's set the most, with the guest artists and interesting cover song choices. Very similar to 2010's closing set. Fortunately the heaviest rain waited until after Wilco's Saturday set, and Sunday featured only a couple bursts of light sprinkles. Clearly everyone was prepared for the weather.

A few random thoughts and photos: So cool that this festival brings together some of my favorite musicians. Last year there was Neko Case, and David Hidalgo (of Los Lobos), two artists I follow closely. In 2010 I was introduced to Mavis Staples who I have since gone on to see elsewhere. This year it was Richard Thompson. Can't wait to see who they book for 2017. Of the three acts that played just before Wilco/Tweedy, the Felice Brothers were the one that I enjoyed. Anyone else notice this cool atmospheric pattern during Night 1? The acoustic stage set had construction-set style lig

Cars Can't Escape is one of the most-requested songs, so I don't know it counts as underrated. Yes, to Country Disappeared! How about Blasting Fonda When the Roses Bloom Again I would have put Secret of the Sea in there but they finally figured out they should be playing that song regularly.

Huge RT fan here; but also not blown away by his set this weekend as his catalog can be hit or miss for me. He likes to often play some stuff I'm not terribly fond of, and some of my favorites I have never heard him do. Hmph. The highlight of his Solid Sound was that heavy version of For Shame of Doing Wrong, which I'd never heard him do with the full band before. Still, (no pun intended) it was great to see him, and I did like the fact he doesn't shy away from playing new stuff, and that he mixes up his sets drastically from tour to tour.

Wilco - 5/1/15, St. Augustine (St. Augustine Amphitheater)
Yaz Rock replied to Mr. Heartbreak's topic in After The Show
Great crowd response in the encores I might add. The usual mix of people standing vs sitting during the show, but most everyone was up for the encores. I took my dad to his first Wilco show. He enjoyed it. He's been going to shows since Johnny Cash in the late 1950s. -

Cars Can't Escape was introduced as a song that gets the most request votes, but no one ever claps after it. Jeff prefaced We've Been Had by saying the next two songs were played at the last show by the band he and John were in before Wilco. I knew there was something significant about the date, but couldn't figure out what, when the "you must be born before this date to drink" sign at the bar before the show said 5-1-1994. First time hears for me were Panthers, Dark Neon, and alternate Camera. Secret of the Sea had been a long time coming since my last time, and was dedicated to Stetson -

Anyone know if there's a story behind the one-off co-headline gig Wilco did with RT at NYC's Beacon Theater in 1999? Wilco went first and played longer than RT, much to the dismay of his faithful, LOL: http://www.rtlist.net/2leftfeet/index.html?review83.htm Funny that it took 15 years for them to reconnect and now collaborate.
