  1. Just tossing out an mp3 link for Ripple, 'til the flood of full show tapes and Roadcase releases come out.
  2. Give Back the Key to My Heart. There's another thread for this show: http://viachicago.org/topic/50352-wilco-103014-capitol-theatre-port-chester-ny/
  3. Yes, the ushers are really nice. The security though, a bit overboard. Stupidly, the venue sell snacks and pizza in the lobby, which you can go in and out of, but they check tickets after the lobby, instead of at the actual front door. I went in and out of the lobby once and got yelled at for not showing my wristband when I returned into the venue/merch area, which everyone has to pass through - I didn't have a wristband because I was sitting upstairs and therefore wasn't given one in the first place. And then the ticket-checker said, angrily, "Who marked your ticket?!?" Uh, the guy who let me
  4. Banter notes: Jeff made fun of one the one guy in GA who was holding up a lighter. If it was the whole crowd it would have been OK, but one lighter is like one sarcastic clap. He chided the fellow on his age - first thinking he was 19 and didn't know better, then 27 and should have known, and then I think the guy said he was 22 - just starting to understand how things work, Jeff suggested. Jeff asked the crowd if we were going to all three nights. The crowd did not respond loudly and Jeff asked why not. Someone said to the effect of "Don't charge so much." Jeff said the band has been around
  5. Article from our local newspaper The Journal News aka "LoHud" in today's print edition http://www.lohud.com/story/entertainment/music/2014/10/21/wilco-capitol-theatre-aniversary-playlists/17630815/ Wilco at The Cap: What to expect; listen to lohud playlistsChristopher Vaughan, Cvaughan2@lohud.com 11:25 a.m. EDT October 23, 2014 (Photo: Zoran Orlic) 24 CONNECT 16 TWEETLINKEDINCOMMENTEMAILMORECompeting against thousands of fellow fans to claim a concert ticket for your favorite band's show before it sells out can be tense. Contending for a seat at a Wilco performance is downright nerve-w
  6. Is there a statement somewhere that it will be pulled off youtube in due time? The jambase link just goes to the youtube link which has already been posted: youtube.com/watch?v=SnLJgiEAiA0
  7. Mark Knopfler - Shangri-La. That's the one solo record of his that I have been playing over and over, for the last decade. Never get tired of it. For Los Lobos, my vote goes to The Town and the City (2006). Road to Gila Bend is one of their best tunes ever, plenty of room for guitar wailing on that one. Little Things is also a real heavy tune.
  8. Slow Love isn't really a sing-a-long-y song though. Something more musically upbeat will do the trick. Give Back the Key to My Heart is the kind of tune I was singing along to last night.
  9. I scored tix at 10am. Didn't see any sold out notations even after I completed my purchase.
  10. I can spend twelve dollars and three zero cents, for print-at-home tickets, and unused letterhead VCers wonder why Wilco still uses Front Gate, but the rest of us don't give a fuck 'Cause we scored tickets from them too, and shipping was just a buck
  11. I agree that the logging out thing is weird, but it happened to me after I bought tix for another show, so I can sorta see that. Not sure why it happened to you before you bought though, As for tix apparently available but not able to purchase, same thing happened to me for another band's presales on ticketmaster, I kept trying, and 45 minutes after on-sale I scored a ticket. Just keep trying until they actually say "sold out."
  12. Why is it FrontGate's fault that demand exceeds supply? On the flip side, shipping is only one dollar, down from 12 dollars! Still can't combine orders though. I got logged out of trying for one show while I got the other.
  13. A Detroit Tigers hat, really? I know that for a while now he has been wearing a black hat with an old-English C (for Chicago, I presume), perhaps that's what it was. EDIT: Oops, didn't see the 2nd page of this topic. Yes, it could well be a CT Tigers hat.
  14. The tapes I have listened to the most: August 01, 1995 Flood Zone Richmond, VA http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/481 Nice AM set. December 14, 1996 Melkweg Amsterdam, The Netherlands http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/221 Will You Still Love Me tomorrow November 19, 1999 Trocadero Theatre Philadelphia, PA http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/553 Pretty close to my first ever show (November 11, 1999, Town Hall, NYC).There is also a very good audience tape of this show. August 12, 2000 Tribune Tower Plaza "Rock the River" Chicago, IL http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/54 Great FM Broadcast
  15. I would be happy with just the full 2-CD set of Pete's demos. Don't need the actual album in 55 different versions.
  16. I'm going to interpret "small shows" to be bar-type venues with room for a hundred or two people, max... with "medium shows" represented by the Bowery Ballrooms/Irving Plazas of the world, up to several-thousand seat theaters... And "big shows" as stadium/arenas. Big shows: Pearl Jam - 10/31/09 Last show at the Spectrum - hits, rarities, 1st-time plays.... This show had it all Pearl Jam - 7/19/13 Wrigley Field - monster setlist, some rare stuff, some brand new stuff, and everything in-between, and an epic rain-delay. I might also throw Solid Sound 2013 in there as well, though that might f
  17. The idea of alternating songs with another band kinda kills the sequencing of what songs would be in a "dream set" but since your request didn't state to specifically follow this venue's format, I am gonna go with what'd be cool to hear Wilco do on stage seven songs in a row. Via Chicago I'm Always In Love A Magazine Called Sunset Not For the Seasons Monday Outta Site E: California Stars Candyfloss was a very narrow cut from the number 2 slot.
  18. You can define it however you wish!
  19. Agreed too about I'm Always in Love from the Wilco film. I've always thought the Grant Park FM broadcast from 2001 was the other best version out there: http://www.sooutoftune.org/concerts/568
  20. The question I ask myself is, if my favorite bands were playing two nearby venues the same night, same time, which one would I pick to see? I've had show conflicts for sure but not at the top level. So here's my order in that case. 1. Pearl Jam 2. Soul Asylum 3. Wilco 4. Old 97s or maybe Wilco 3A and Old 97s 3B to be determined by coin-toss.
  21. This is hilarious, almost as funny as Jeff's 2001 solo tour banter of inserting "cock" into song titles as a kid. Nothing will ever top "Out of Cock (Out of Mind)" as suggested by someone in the audience. I was going to say "by an audience member", but, no. Anyhow, now that most of the well-known titles have been taken I nominate: Blasting Chickens Corduroy Cutoff Chicken
  22. It's been said in various interviews that it will pretty much be an every-other-year proposition. I seem to recall an announcement of the 2013 event in the summer of 2012, and date confirmation in late 2012. So yeah, if there was something for 2014, it'd be on their website by now. It's a big event that takes a lot of planning.
  23. Yes, and PJ's studio version appeared on a 1995 compliation entitled Home Alive. They rock it. I was fortunate to hear PJ do The Seekeer one of the very few times they've played it, but my favorite Who cover was The Real Me from the VH1 tribute show. Totally fucking nailed it. Pardon my french, but they did. I probably will end up ranking Lightning Bolt above Binaural for sure, and maybe above Avocado too.
  24. Usually in the low 20s, but this year I broke 30 for the first time. (And I only count professional bands, not my friends and other truly local acts.)
