  1. Dunno the story here, but I remember well a case many years ago where the NY Mets TV announcers made fun of some guy for wearing what sounds like a similar contraption. Turned out the fellow had serious vision problems and the contraption was a medical device, as regular glasses just didn't do it for him.
  2. The political banter on this tour was kept to a minimum - it was actually near non-existent, certainly at the 4 shows I attended. There was maybe one remark at the two MSG shows. This tour was much more about connecting with the fans in personally meaningful ways than in making broad political statements. There are no pro-Obama songs. Bu$hleaguer is the only Bush song I can think of. What are the other one or two? BInaural, Riot Act, and Avocado certainly had very topical songs for the times, but no other tunes specifically aimed at Bush. Binaural was originally advertised with a 16-song t
  3. The Porch thing didn't bother me as power only went out for a couple seconds. Not like 2006 when it went out for about 10 minutes. They brought one kid up on stage in Canada. That was cool. I didn't read of any others. But Ed has been going out into the crowd during Porch and Mike McCready has been going out into the crowd whenever he wants and then he is running around half the arena sometimes. There have been numerous special dedications too. Clearly someone is reading the PJ fanclub forum and the band is responding to messages that resonate with them. Makes each night uniquely special.
  4. I was there! Totally awesome, and completely out of left field. Surrender with 1/2 of Cheap Trick was awesome too! If Pearl Jam ever pulled a Wilco and performed an all-covers show.. well, I don't know that it would be better than Solid Sound, but it would be incredible.
  5. That was an amazing little run through the east coast. Went to 4 shows and enjoyed each one immensely.
  6. I would put my money on the new Foo Fighters fronted by Nick Lachey.
  7. By then they'll probably play it safe and just go with "Blue Harvest"
  8. Hadn't seen that, thanks for the link. I can spend more than three minutes on diet coca cola and 147 unread comments. Jeez, what a riot. Who says "Toodles"? Looks like old man handwriting, probably the same rowcrasher who was tripping next to me the last half the night.
  9. How many are you trying for? Just out of curiosity I looked for a single and got orchestra A and B sections. Ordinarily I'd love to see both acts, but I've got so many shows on the agenda this year I may sit this out out since I'd have to overnight for it.
  10. Just posted some photos from this show: http://www.yazcountry.com/rob/concerts/Wilco-2016-01.html A few sample shots:
  11. Staff at the Cap need some lessons in courtesy though. King's Theater crew were so nice and polite, clearly a well-run team. After the Cap show I went to use the restroom, and was told to go upstairs. I went upstairs and was sternly told to go downstairs. Turns out they wanted everyone to use the three single-stall restrooms in Garcia's bar. So the line was way-long. I've encountered less-than-pleasant staff before at the Cap, and stuff like that makes me not care to ever go there again, no matter how nice the room is.
  12. I'm sure you've all seen the photos of this place when it was in disuse, but I gotta share this link here: http://afterthefinalcurtain.net/2011/04/01/loews-kings-theatre/ Very interesting looking at those photos again, now having been to the restored theater.
  13. Been to two shows at Wrigley. On the field once and in the stands once. Sounded fine.
  14. That wasn't Kamera, it was Camera (the alternate version). Which sounds different than the usual, album version. Venue staff were fantastic - professional, cheerful, and welcoming - all the way around. Sign of a well-run organization. Glad to see the crowd stood from the get-go. I think there were a lot of first-timers/casual fans in the audience so I wasn't sure that would happen. A few assertive folks up front may have set the tone A real annoyance was the constant stream of people trying to crash the front to sit with their buddies/occupy seats they didn't pay for/stand in the aisles.

  18. I've been to a handful of shows at the Capitol Theater, and fights have not been uncommon. I guess it doesn't attract the best audiences. I thought the New Haven crowd was very appreciate of the band and very chill to be around. Also about CSMH, I wonder if they gutted the place for its current reincarnation or was that architectural carnage conducted during in its 1980s rebirth as the Palace Theater. There is very little in that building to indicate it dates to the 1920s. Still, I liked the size of the room and look forward to future shows there.
  19. Backspacer came out in the latter half of 2009, and they only did a few shows, mostly out west and Philly. So 2010 was the proper Backspacer tour. But yes they tour pretty often, though it seems they like to alternate years between North America /Europe/South America..

  22. Pearl Jam - used to have tons of great b-sides and outtakes. Almost nothing has leaked from their last few albums however, Soul Asylum - especially early/mid-1990s they had enough material to fill 2 or 3 good albums. Mazzy Star has some good non-album material too, but not a prolific amount
  23. Could be that OP means "official bootleg" as opposed to fan-made recordings? Jeff wouldn't really know if fans were taping nor to make mention of it. I believe that Wilco tape every show but, unlike Pearl Jam, they do not release very show, just select performances.
