I occasionally go to setlistFM and put in bands and cities from my past to see if the set list is there. A couple of times there will be an opener that I have no memory of, but I just experienced the best/worst example of not remembering much about a decades old show. I looked up a Who show I saw in 1982 and marveled at what a great set it was, but no "Substitute", even though I "remembered" it being played. I noticed at the bottom that The B-52s and Joan Jett and The Blackhearts opened. I vaguely remember Joan Jett - maybe- but I would've bet money that The B-52s did not open. It gets worse.

Auction: Jeff Tweedy Living Room Concert (Bidding Ends 12/14)
Doug C replied to nalafej's topic in Just A Fan
I think about using a portion of my retirement savings when I retire in 3 1/2 years to fund a Living Room Show Retirement Party, but that would be irresponsible. -
My total for 2 floor row G at Tampa Theatre was $115 and that was including $3 extra for postage. $105 each is excessive. I'd have paid it, but would've been unhappy.
-
I hope so. I'd totally enjoy Tweedy or some other backing band, but the 2 solo shows I saw were magical times.
-
Logged on at 7 and bought 2 floor right row G for Tampa. Tried again immediately after to see what would come up and floor were gone! I’m happy as not only is G the 7th row, but it has a walkway behind it, so free to stand and dance without having to deal with annoying sitters complaining.

If you could ask Roger Daltry one question??

What is your opinion of Greta Van Fleet? -
That unAmerican Merrick Garland atrocity is somehow worse now. Or I guess I'm angry about it all over again.

All I could think of was air conditioners.

Hahahaha!! Well done. Thanks for the morning laugh.

Your soul is not at risk. No collaboration. It was tough watching Richard Thompson say goodnight after 40 minutes. Before the encore, Isbell praised RT and talked about how he wouldn't be the songwriter or guitar player he is if not for listening to RT. This gave me a glimmer of hope, but no.
-
Damn, if one happens, should I tell you? Do you want your soul to explode? 7 minutes to RT!
-
Richard Thompson solo acoustic and Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit. Quite excited to see 2 favorites. Hell of a double bill. I don't expect any collaboration, but if it happens...

Ever hang out in Vancouver, or Victoria BC?
Doug C replied to lost highway's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Definitely good area to visit. Was in Victoria and Juan de Fuca Provincial Park this past summer. It was our second time in Victoria, glad to have seen more of Vancouver Island this time. Have been to Vancouver twice, but not recently. A fine family vacation spot. Both cities have lots to offer and the ferry is fun. Vancouver, as I’m sure you know, is a “big city”, while Victoria is relatively small. Restaurants, art, parks, and hikes a are part of both. Wild places are not far from either. In Vancouver, Granville Public Market is family fun, as is the aquarium. Who doesn’t love otters. T -
Hahaha! That is laughable. If you want to say that they wrote and recorded a pop song for their 7th studio album out of 15, fine. If you think that means that they "became a pop band", you're either a hyperbole merchant looking for a reaction or you know nothing of their final 8 albums. If R.E.M. "became a pop band", that would mean that at least a majority of their songs were "pop". Please name the pop songs that followed the release of "Out of time". In my opinion, it is debatable that "Shiny Happy People" is a pop song. Even if it is, it isn't "Smooth". If they became a "pop band", then

She likely has and since it paid off in the past...

The Destroyer Sessions. Ryan Adams, Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch. That's what I think of.

trump, he's a dick

Sad. They were a good band with some solid songs. As she was only 46, I’m interested in the cause of death. I’m certain I have a Wilco recording, I think from an early Solid Sound, where the band plays “Dreams” in an audience “Stump the band”. Maybe John Hodgman was involved?

Winston, I agree. He doesn't understand why, which he should. But that he can't admit saying what a group heard him say? Dick Durbin should have thrown fecorum out the window. "This unqualified, incompetent, shithole of a human being knows what he said. He doesn't have the conviction to admit it". Fuck getting reelected again, Dick (and every other >65 y.o. congressperson). These are unique times.

That he has the temerity to deny that he said "shithole" et al, drives me nuts. Okay then asshole, what exactly did you say? Crickets.
