The like, newest new election thread

Correct on both counts but McCain's VP choice speaks to his judgement and he would be the oldest at inauguration by 3 years. -

Don't worry. It'll return. Hell, she's probably pregnant again already. -

'As Jason Kottke noted, "the cognitive dissonance inside Murray's head must be deafening." ' Thanks for posting that about Murray. It was a great example of the hypocrisy but I truly loved the above quote. What an excellent turn of phrase. As someone that teaches the concept of cognitive dissonance in my AP psych. classes, I dug it! Thanks again. -
Jay Bennett is a talented person and I look forward to his new releases. I wish that he would come to Florida. I hope for only the best in his life.

Thanks man! All that matters is that folks want to pass along information. I never understood the whole 'this has been previously mentioned' vibe that exists here. What is the point of it other than to make someone feel bad? Whew! I have wanted to get that off of my chest a couple of years. I don't know why now was the time...

Thank you, dmait.

I'm listening to this show during lunch. Though I always get the same positive vibe and smile when listening, I just felt compelled to say that if you've never heard this or haven't listened in a good while, remedy that soon. For me it is just so joyful. The vibe that comes through is so clear, it rings like a church bell pealing the end of a wedding. Seeing the scenes from the Sam Jones doc add to it. Listening to the show, it always amazes me that a short time later things were quite different in Wilco land. Even though it was likely a foregone conclusion at that point, on the stage in Grant

Sunday will be the 30th anniversary of my father's death. I was 15 and still miss him, the things that we shared like shooting hoops and kicking the football - he built a soccer pitch for me on our 10 acres - and the things that his presence did for me. All of the things that I would have liked to talk to him about... What I miss the most, though, are the milestones in my life that he missed and that I missed sharing with him. High school and university graduation, getting a career job, career success, marriage, children, grandchildren, etc. My mom gave me the pocket watch that his mom gave h

The "society, media and gay people" thread

What? I understand your point but to my wife and me, "God hates fangs" is witty. Also, you know that if the premise was real that Fred Phelps would be saying 'God hates Fangs'. Lighten up! It is funny and true. -

HA! I always laugh during the opening of True Blood when it shows a church sign that reads "GOD HATES FANGS". -

So true. Many of us have seen firsthand and many secondhand how society's view toward sexuality actually hurts society. Whether it be relatively minor like Clay Aiken's pressure or relatively major like having a wide stance ruining a family or serious as in suicide of a teen. I have known gays and lesbians all of my life, from family members to friends, and worked with GLBT youth for over 10 years and have seen it all from futile attempts to live a lie to the worst imaginable. It will be a great day when no one gives a damn what happens between 2 consenting adults and we realize that the more -
I read that his contract requires a wang double. I wonder if he is against nudity on principle or if he is embarrassed?

Yes!1 My wife and I looked at each other and smiled. The show is getting even more interesting. Lots of questions waiting to be answered.

My wife and I are going to the ATL show. We are very excited. Especially her. She is hot for Mr. Adams. And Rhett Miller. And John Stirratt. But she loves me. Or so she says.

I care far more about an elected official's character than their wealth. I haven't seen correlational studies on those two pieces of data to know if scientifically one tends to predict the other.

Darn you, Louie! This the first that I saw this thread and I immediately speed read the posts knowing that I'd be able to respond with exactly what you posted (except I'd have used ... )

The only bumper stickers that I have are an old faded, ragged but durable Sleater-Kinney that has a picture of the ladies and a fresh Wilco Now.

I am a fan. I only saw them once circa 1988 at the Tampa Theatre. A good show that could have been better if McCulloch hadn't been Westerberg drunk. That Ocean Rain with orchestra has to be a great show. Lucky bastid.
