  1. I requested Can't Stand It. I'm 2 for 2 on requests for these shows Thursday was great, but I think I had an even better time last night. I'll have plenty of pictures once I get home.
  2. I have no idea what to expect from the next two nights. Whatever we get, I know it's going to be amazing!
  3. Tonight was amazing. We were in the front row. They played my request. I got Nels's set list. I'm too tired to write in more complex sentences. Here's the set list: Sunken Treasure You Are My Face Hummingbird Ashes of American Flags Company In My Back Handshake Drugs Pot Kettle Black Shot In the Arm On and On and On Misunderstood Far Far Away Impossible Germany New Madrid (requested by Jeff's dad) Jesus, Etc. California Stars Walken I'm the Man Who Loves You Heavy Metal Drummer Spiders Hate It Here Kingpin Passenger Side (dedicated to all the people Jeff's dad brought with him to the s
  4. After two days in the car, I'm finally here. I'm on Venus's computer. We're headed over a little later
  5. On the last U2 tour, I was lining up at 8 in the morning (and still not getting that close). 3 is no big deal
  6. Yeah, that's what I figure I'll do. I'm going to bring my big purse and hide my camera down at the bottom of it. If they give me a hard time about using it, I'll just put it away. Hopefully I can get some good shots at least one night.
  7. I'm gearing up for my 13 hour drive to St. Louis next week. I've figured out that for every hour I'll be spending the car, I'll get to hear roughly 3 Wilco songs live. That's not a bad ratio
  8. Can we bring cameras in? The Pageant website says no, but I'm hoping that as long as we follow the usual rules (no flash and such) it won't be a problem. I just finished grading my students' final projects and calculating their semester grades.
  9. Thanks, o-man. That's actually later than I figured I'd have to get there, so I'm glad I asked. I have presale tickets for all three nights, so I should be able to get a pretty good spot. I just remembered I still haven't requested my songs! I'd better go do that before I forget.
  10. How early is everybody thinking of lining up? I really want to get down front at least one night, but I don't want to be the dork who shows up way earlier than she needs to.
  11. For the Tanglewood show, it seemed that the first 10 sections of the seated area in the shed were reserved for the presale, but that seems to be an exception to the rule. I got a great seat for the Upper Darby show back in February via Ticketbastard.
  12. Seeing each night's setlist makes me even more excited for St. Louis. I love how much they're mixing things up.
  13. How did I not know this was out already. I'm a huge Jhumpa Lahiri fan. Interpreter of Maladies is one of my all-time favorite books I had an hour to kill this afternoon while waiting to pick up my new glasses, and I ended up at Barnes and Noble, where I got I've spent the last few months reading The Satanic Verses, and I should probably be done with it sometime this weekend. I've enjoyed it, but it's been extremely dense reading, so I'm looking forward to reading something a bit more linear next.
  14. Nice pics, punchdrunk. Nels had that same shirt on last Friday when I saw him in NYC
  15. Thanks for the tip about those shows at the Vaguard. I'll definitely be trying to make a trip down for one of those. My trip to the city last weekend was a lot more manageable than I expected it to be, so I'm up for doing it again. Right now I'm trying to figure out how I can see the Singers the most for the least amount of travel. I know they're playing two sets in Minneapolis and Indianapolis, but Minneapolis is way too far from the other cities for me to make it work. Did somebody mention they're playing two sets in Madison? I can't find confirmation of that on the club's website. Right n
  16. ^ I blame you for being there in the first place I left a Ryan Adams show in Philadelphia a few years ago. He was drunk and arguing with the crowd, and I was sick of waiting around for him to play the next song. Apparently he was booed and heckled so much that he stormed off the stage not long after I left. I seriously doubt I'll ever go see him again because of that show.
  17. Andrew Bird will surely come out and do at least a few songs with them, which will be fun. But it's important to remember that "just another show" when it comes to Wilco still means it's most likely going to be a wonderful experience. It would be cool if it were recorded, or if they did something else special, but they don't need to for it to be a great night. I'm holding onto what I know is an absurd hope that the string section from the BSO will sit in on a few songs (Jesus, Etc. with a string section? I'd die...). I highly doubt that will happen, but I can hope, can't I?
  18. I saw Wilco and Dylan within a few days of each other last summer. Same place, but vastly different crowds. It was probably the best Dylan show sound-wise I've ever been to.
  19. Three days later I'm still amazed by how great they were. I was worried I was going in with expectations that were too high, but they really impressed me. I'm coming out for a few of the Midwest shows then heading up to Montreal (my first time in Canada!) to catch their show with Scarnella. Nels and Carla play together so rarely anymore that I don't want to miss them.
  20. I was really impressed with the club. It was very intimate, and the sound was superb. I got there relatively early and got a spot right down front as I'd wanted, a few seats back from the front, but at an angle where I had a perfect view of Nels the whole night. Charlie Hunter sat in with the Scott Amendola Band--Nels, Scott, and Jenny Scheinman. I wasn't sure what to expect since I guessed they hadn't had a lot of time to rehearse, but they were spot-on for the whole set. In fact, I thought they sounded better than the line-up I'd heard on their last album, Believe. They opened with a new s
  21. I have an extra for Tanglewood, Section 3, row L, that I'm hoping to trade for a ticket for Wilmington. One on Nels's side would be nice, but I know the theater is small enough that there probably isn't a bad seat in the house. PM me if you're interested.
  22. If you're willing to split them up, I have one extra for Tanglewood--Section 3, row L
  23. I just got back into town from last night's shows. What a trip! It was definitely one of the very best nights of live music I've ever seen. I took notes when I got back to my hotel last night because there was so much I wanted to remember. I'll post more later after I look over them.
