  1. Yeah, Carolina Drama is one hell of a finish to a great album.
  2. Alright, so I listened to this a few more times and I like it better every time I hear it. There is so much more subtle instrumentation and layering on this album than their previous ones. Really glad to see they have tried to branch out, at least some, and try some different things.
  3. Man, I am jealous. That had to be a great time. Also, if anyone didn't see Pardon The Interruption's April Fool's joke, it's pretty hilarious-- Too Bad It's Not True
  4. I have been listening to The Dodos a lot lately. It is a duo- one guy plays acoustic guitar and there is a unique percussionist. It is a really unique sound and it sounds nothing like your average acoustic singer-songwriter. The melodies are great and their songs are hook filled. AllMusic describes them as: Country-blues fingerpicking meets West African Ewe drumming meets metal meets indie pop sounds like an all-too-wacky description, but the Dodos turn these far-flung elements into delightfully natural-sounding music. one of their songs (Red and Purple) is on this mix I made: http://drew
  5. I know a lot of people here don't like Pitchfork, but it is so true about the "Pitchfork Effect." They'll review something and give it a high score and all the sudden it starts getting a lot of pub and hype around the internet (blogs, torrent communities, last.fm, etc). I've found a lot of great music from that site that I would have otherwise never heard of.
  6. Is it worth 32 dollars plus ticketbastard fees to go see them? I'm tempted.
  7. woo hoo, my first class of the quarter and only class of the day got cancelled, so now I can watch my Reds beat the Dbacks.
  8. Man, I've got her CD and it's terrific. I still don't see why you guys think this tourney is lame. Tons of great games. Who cares about the seeds.
  9. Would have been even greater if Curry had hit a 3 at the buzzer. Gus Johnson would have burst into flames.
  10. I wish Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery would call the Final Four games. Those 2 are a great pair and Raftery is flat out hilarious.
  11. Never happened. The most that have ever been in the Final 4 is 3 one seeds.
  12. WOW. Didn't know Hansbrough had that kind of range.
  13. well, you were right. It's happening now.
  14. I don't think I called Davidson an underdog, but it's good that the rest of the nation can finally see how good they are.
  15. Are you kidding? This tournament has had some absolutely fantastic games. Xavier and WV is OT. Duke and Belmont down to the wire in the first round. San Diego knocking off UConn in OT. Western Kentucky's shot in OT at the buzzer to beat Drake, then Western taking down SD and almost coming back and beating UCLA. The Butler and Tennessee game was a great game. Siena smokes Vanderbilt. Davidson and Stephen Curry making it to the Elite 8. I really think this has been a great tournament, nowhere near boring.
  16. With about 42 seconds left in Spoon's "Dont Make Me a Target," Britt Daniel uses this really fuzzed out guitar line that I think it really cool and I don't hear often. Right around the 1:30 mark in You are My Face, Nels' guitar tone is great. And, I always liked the tone on a lot of George Harrison's solos. On the Raconteurs new album, the sliding electric guitar that runs throughout that song has a pretty beefy tone to it. I'm really bad a describing guitar tones, I just know what I like when I hear it.
  17. I love the what the announcer says at the beginning of that clip:
  18. Thanks for all the opinions and advice guys. I'll start hunting these albums down.
  19. Turn! Turn! Turn!- The Byrds Why?- Andrew Bird Was it You?- Spoon 11:11- Andrew Bird And to illustrate the point of the poster who mentioned Sufjan, this song (and album title) is LOADED with punctuation: One Last "Woo-hoo!" for the Pullman- Sufjan Stevens, from his album Come On! Feel the Illinoise!
  20. Let's hear it for WKU. What a run they had and what a comeback against UCLA, even if they fell a bit short, they never stopped fighting.
  21. Good news for Andrew Bird fans- he is starting to record his new album soon. And he has started a blog on the NY Times website. Here is the link: Measure for Measure- Andrew Bird apparently, he will be writing a new entry every so often. Pretty cool to get a look inside his songwriting process.
  22. So, I just discovered John Cale. Just got done listening to his debut album from 1970, "Vintage Violence," and I really loved it. Anyone else here into his stuff? Which album should I listen to next?
