After having been on VC through the two previous elections I don't want to be here for a third. Between the Obama haters on the right, the Obama disappontment crew on the left, and everyone in between it is going to be a nasty ass election season. LouieB

I have been predicting this for years. I am sort of amazed that it is happening so soon, but Billy needs the money and attention more than Wilco. I am fine with whomever he pulls out of the vaults including Natalie Merchant. A full accouting of the sessions is needed. Let's hope it really IS EVERYTHING and that they don't pull this BS on us again 10 more years down the road. LouieB

I have had the unfortunate experience at various times of my life to have to be in a soul train line. (At weddings, parties, etc. not on the show obviously) Yikes. No soul on this end. LouieB

And only $400 at that. LouieB

Some info from the Chicago Trib on Cornelius, I find it strange that more folks haven't posted up here. LouieB

I always loved Soul Train. It was the black American Bandstand, with cheezy dancing, bad lipsyncing, tasteless period fashion, and lots of shameless promotion. I would (and still do when I see the reruns) look for the solitary white dancer in the crowd trying to act soulful. I suppose it is also important to point out that it started here in Chciago. Where else really? LouieB

Bummer. Was watching Soul Train the other night on Bounce. LouieB

Jeff never sounds like a true Chicagoan unliess he is fooling around I guess. He simply sounds like a ;midwesterner. Dennis Franz sounds like a Chicagoan. Dennis Farina sounds like a Chicagoan Tweedy never sounds like that. (nor do I and I have been here for decades.) LouieB

Going to Chicago....what to do, see, stay, etc.

That's exactly right......I brought my own catsup yesterday, because I got the fries and really wanted them with catsup. Crazy old place to be sure. Regarding Blind Fatih in Evanston; I had dinner there the other night. Still a bit overpriced, but the food quality was very good. Just a far cry from it's old hippie roots. LouieB -

I have no idea, but it isn't Meddle. LouieB -
Not all stores even got the Big Star LP last year. RSD is very cool, but admittedly I have records from the last few I have never gotten around to listening to. Also some titles were still for sale in stores long after the day was over. Any idea what the big draw is this year? LouieB

No but I just got some french fries at Jimmy's Red Hots at Grand and Pulaski. A true Chicago institution. LouieB -
So who does the money go to? I thought the Occupy Movement had no leaders? LouieB

Thanks for the tip on this place (although the link does not seem to work). Looks good and I have not been there. If you are a vegetarian and want to visit, but not eat at Super Dawg, it is right down the street. LouieB -
In what must be one of the stranger re-marketing moves ever, I have a copy of this album which capitalized on the twist craze of the early 60s. Somehow someone figured that Etta James' songs worked as material for the twist. I don't really know if I agree, but her signature hit Roll with me Henry is rebranded on this album. No mention of the twist in the song, just a bunch of Etta's songs with an explaination on how to do the twist on the back along with diagrams of what to do with your feet and body. Pretty humorous. It looks like Jimmy Castor is #3 for this week. LouieB

It would take quite a songwriter to work that one up. LouieB

Yea, Shuggie. He sure fell into obscurity. Does he have some health problems or something? So this is two musician gone today. Wonder if there will be a third. LouieB

She certainly went out on a high note. She got alot of notice from the movie Cadiilac Records, she had a new album come out that got good reviews, and she didn't die in obscurity. Great work. LouieB

Three parakeets. Low maintanence and good for kids, although I don't have any "kids" anymore I still have the birds. They die though, but if you take good care of them (feed low fat food) they live a pretty long time. LouieB

Yawn!!! (I nearly posted up the same comment that Emmylou released an album by that name.) LouieB -
Quite the life. I have some of his big band/R&B recordings on Savoy. One crazy dude. LouieB
