  1. Personal File is a good one, but quite different from what Rubin was doing. LouieB
  2. This is a very sad story. He showed all the classic signs of checking out. Not much you can do when someone really doesn't want to stick around. The interviews this AM on the TV of his parents (his father played Chekov on Star Trek) were heartbreaking. LouieB
  3. Where was this recorded. I don't do downloading and I am curious. LouieB
  4. I don't know about euthenizing this whale, but maybe they need to keep trainers with ponytails away from his mouth. Apparently this whale was sent to this sea world for purposes of breedng only. To then keep parading him around as a show animal after other instances of bad behavior was irresponsible. LouieB
  5. Actually this has been expected for many months. Interesting little review in the New New Yorker. See below. LouieB Cashed Out by Ben Greenman “American VI: Ain’t No Grave” (American Recordings); Johnny Cash; Rick Rubin; Kris Kristofferson; “For the Good Times”; June Carter; Robert Mitchum There are several good things about “American VI: Ain’t No Grave” (American Recordings), the second posthumous release from Johnny Cash and the final page in Rick Rubin’s final-chapter reclamation project. The title song demonstrates admirable defiance in the face of death. Cash’s heartbreaking cov
  6. It's a travesty she isn't there already. LouieB
  7. Exactly. Anymore the election cycle is so quick that you are essentially correct; and certainly every year is a fundraising to get elected year. It is frightening to think that in a mere two years we will be right back into the presidential cycle as well. That is something to look forward to. Are you speaking of the healthcare summit?? How is it going??? LouieB
  8. Weird thing...there is a long article about this in the Trib this morning. Apparently you can get this stuff in Chicago too... LouieB
  9. Am I the only one with the Neko Case song stuck in my head? I doubt it. What a strange intersection of art and real life though... "We know They call them killer whales But you seem surprised When it pinned you down to the bottom of the tank Where you can't turn around It took half your leg, and both your lungs" LouieB
  10. Eric Clapton did this a few years ago (no Johnson jokes of course...). Too bad Robert has no decendants, they are due a ton of dough. LouieB
  11. Sadly, no one wants to appear soft on terrorism in an election year. LouieB
  12. Clearly if Scott Brown voted against a jobs bill in the fairly liberal state of MA, his ass would be run out of town on a rail. LouieB
  13. Scott Brown can now run for President as an independent. He voted for the jobs bill in the Senate, bringing on the wrath of the Teabaggers...... LouieB
  14. I would bug Wilco's management. Clearly booking agents in Spain, Scandanavia, the UK, other parts of the world know how to get them there. No reason the French shouldn't get some Wilco. LouieB
  15. It might help to pick up a couple of their CDs just to get a better feel for their music. I would stay away from stuff from the middle period, but then again none of it may be to your taste. Their first three or their last one are all excellent. LouieB
  16. At the moment neither artist is bored or needs the money. Meanwhile there is some new music on the Marah website. I have not listened to it, but I am told it is there. LouieB
  17. Actually I was kidding about this too. Between fans complaining about not being able to get tickets and the Onion dissing Wilco, it wasn't all that funny I guess. Who cares who likes Wilco and who doesn't. Wilco has certainly hit the big time. I keep expecting their popularity to slack a bit, but so far it hasn't. I guess the days of Wilco being a cult band are gone forever. This is good for the band members and their management, but less so for the fans. LouieB
  18. So does this mention in the Onion translate into ticket sales???? LouieB
  19. It's nice to know he has finally broken out and recorded something new. His old records are quite good, I have a bunch of them and I saw him a couple times back in the early 80s I think, maybe late 70s. LouieB
  20. Well okay, I can understand that. Most groups do sound fairly similar sometimes. (Then again I am pretty much done with Son Volt, whereas I like the BoRox from way back and know all their songs at this point.) Did they get a good crowd at least? LouieB
  21. I know it is s joke. Just not all that funny, but then again the Onion writers are probably Wilco fans. LouieB
  22. Lots of adults don't get (or know about) Wilco. So what?? There are plenty of groups that teens don't like. I suppose Wilco is as good a target as any, but really.... LouieB
  23. welll???? Did you like them>??? LouieB
  24. I don't get it....seriously I don't. LouieB
