Sounds like the best reason. I don't know if Ann Sathers has the best or not, but the rest of their food is pretty good too. Did you get tix to Buddy? He usually sells out. I assume this is not serious, but we will find something special if you want....plenty of great bakeries here that people can recommend. LouieB -

Apparently Wilco (the album) is XRT's #1 listener poll winner, beating out U2, so they played a song from it last night. LouieB

Ted Kennedy to be succeeded by a toolbag
LouieB replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
That is what is called socialism in this country. Everyone wants to believe they will someday be wealthly no matter what. LouieB -
There was no mention of Cal Smith here, but then again he was siginficantly older than Kate. This is again fairly sobering, since Kate was only a few years older than I am now. Really sad and again an indication of how short life can be. LouieB

How quickly things turn. Not so long ago the Republicans were finished. Now the media is saying Obama is finished. LouieB -

Thanks for stopping back and reporting on your trip. Glad you had a good time. Brilliant pictures. You went both the obvious and not so obvious places. And the food looks great. Come back in the warm weather, but you sure made Chicago look good. Looks like a great trip. LouieB -
From an email I just got from Evergreen Music who carries Nels' albums. Looks pretty interesting. LouieB Nels Cline and Norton Wisdom: Stained Radiance We're starting the year with a DVD release of an exciting and unique pairing of two great artists. Guitarist Nels Cline and painter Norton Wisdom, both masters of their medium, joined together last year for an afternoon of sonic and visual improvisation caught on film by Aeght Nign. Armed with his guitar and effects, Cline constructs lush soundscapes brought about by Wisdom's brush-stroke spontaneity. Wisdom in turn follows Cline's au

Roky Erickson backed by Okkervil River on his new album!
LouieB replied to PopTodd's topic in Someone Else's Song
The movie says it all, particularly the relationship with the brother which is key to him being able to be back on the road. I am not saying there is anything particularly wrong with him continuing to perform, since I do believe he wants to it, but man, what a painful thing. I would have gone to see Roky had I been at the Pitchfork he performed at a few years ago, simply because I was there and would be curious to see him. I am not curious enough to see him when he does club dates, but that is just me. I figure most people are going to see him because he is legendary, rather than to see -

You gonna miss me is a monumentally sad movie. Admittedly I think even those who are certifiable have a right to make a living, but I have never gone to see Roky nor would I buy this album. I will leave that to someone else. I am sure he wants to be out there performing at this point, but this is all so sad on some more basic level. LouieB -
This does sound like a great gossipy book, although I think I will wait for the paperback. It is amazing that out of all this stuff, the story that has traction is the one about Harry Reid using the word Negro. Strange that the one story that actually makes some sense, even though Reid's choice of words was somewhat not-PC, actually relected reality, whereas the rest of these clowns, on both sides of the political fence, are ones we really need to be fightened about. Agreed. I would not call the second one nearly as strong as the first, but St. Elsewhere doesn't have a weak cut on it. No other group of the past 10 years has had a hit single that has been as ubiquitous as crazy. I never get tired of hearing it and it was (and still is) played all over the radio. I don't kinow if it is simply that Crazy received backlash because of its popularity, but I think the backlash occurs for anything that is populur. LouieB

Of all the crap that confronted me in the paper and the TV news, this was the most heartwarming. What a great life this woman had. She tried to save the Frank family, did save Anne's diaries and went on to tour the world to talk about tolerance. We should all have such great lives. LouieB

I sure am glad to hear that Jimi is out there making records and money for his family. I was worried about that. LouieB
