Now I remember why I was an independent all those years.

Sounds like a press release from the Department of Redundancy Department.... LouieB -
I didn't even know there was a 2009 calendar. LouieB

Seems like only yesterday Frank died. He was younger than I am now. Sad that he is gone. LouieB

Just listened to Meddle era Pink Floyd so I would have to say Meddle era Pink Floyd. LouieB

This is an okay nomination. At least they got one. Neko scored a nomination. Lots of good stuff nominated, if you filter out the crap. All the nominations. Archeophone scored two more nominations as well this year for their Sophie Tucker disk. LouieB

Yup...that one. I have no idea why Silver Jews would make someone uncomfortable. It is not derogitory. LouieB

I don't care how good anyone's hearing is....you can't tell the difference between any format in a car. There is simply too much extranious noise to tell the difference. Anyone who says otherwise is basically lying or downloaded some really low quality files. And since you can't play LPs in a car... LouieB

"Face" is an excellent movie. Crazy scary to be sure. (On a side note that has nothing to do with this thread I was awake in the middle of the night and turned on the TV and 12 Angry Men was playing. Why can't they make movies like that any more??) LouieB

You might want to buy some shelves for those.... LouieB

You want my Califone download from the recent album. You can have it if you make me a CD of it someday. I have the vinyl but not that interested in have the files. LouieB

SAE has moved around like crazy. They used to be in Evanston also. They did carry good stuff. For used equipment check out the 20th Century Audio on Montrose. For lower budget components drive to Springfield and see the folks at Recycled Records. They have a large selection of second hand equipment. Then again someone else may have other ideas. Considering you are newly employed I would be conservative at first. You can always upgrade later. If you are intrepid visit your local pawn shop or thrift store. If you have zero equipment try this....ask around to friends, friends parents

Pretty good movie all in all. LouieB

All that could have made sense if I had used the word veered instead of verved. I think that was some sort of brain crap of merging the words veer and swerve. Yikes... LouieB

Ah, the eternal argument. Space vs no-space and sound you can't really hear. The real difference here is that some folks like to collect shit (like me) and others think it is a royal pain in the ass. If you play music on iPods and computers you really can't tell the difference between MP3s and anything else. If you have a full blown stereo with a turntable, getting LPs is hip at the moment. Carry on. LouieB

nah, my bad....i assumed it was singers. LouieB

I stayned long enough for a Velvet Underground cover of some sort, which also seemed dull by that point. I'll tell you what i personnally think is wrong with Calexico at this point. Needless to say they are very very fine musicians, but once they verved off the southwest vibe, that was their stock and trade, and into the singer songwriter thing, I think they lost something. There are just entirely too many other groups that do that better. But when they fire up the old southwest thing, no one does THAT better. LouieB

Actually my memory sucks as it turns out. They didn't play with her until Blacklisted. My bad. The Sadies did play with her on Furnace though. Time for bed and a new brain. LouieB -
I know I am really tired tonight, but to me LP means one of those black things with holes and grooves. The prospect of getting the new Neko case on vinyl for five bucks sucked me in, only to find out that LP to this poster means MP3s. LouieB

I looked at the math and gave it a total pass tonight. I don't have nearly enough brain cells working at the moment to even try. LouieB

Dylan's most recent album...the Christmas one, the one for charity.... I gave it a listen in the car tonight on the way to Thanksgiving dinner. Yikes!!!!! A few things off the top; Did he sing after the other tracks were done or what? It has that incredibly well put together sound of an album that someone did the arrangements, instrumentals, and background vocals and then the singer just came into the studio and laid down the vocal tracks, after all was said and done. This is really not a bad a not album considering and some of the song selection is brilliant and funny. Otherwise it is

Okay so someone agrees with me. I felt it affected their entire show, trying to make dull material more exciting in concert. It was sort of upsetting because I have seen them other times when they were excellent. I didn't even stay until the end of the show, which was just a year ago this time. If the Acorn opened for them at the Metro a year ago, they left no impression, so they weren't terrible. LouieB

Actually I do know who she is, she is the bass player with the DBT....not so well known as a singer however. LouieB

Cool....tell Richard and Meagan I sent you. Listen to it and then let's talk. LouieB
