  1. Yea, Alison already called me in real life on this......if not her, Edie can too I suppose....I am so effing old school.... LouieB
  2. You have my utmost sympathy on this. I usually attract the assholes......sorry you had to experience this one. We had "psycho girl" near us. She didn't sing along or hardly clap, just stared at Jeff all night and sat on the floor before the show and then during the break (which created a problem when folks nearly tripped over her), barely talking. When she wasn't staring at Jeff she was giving Sue Miller the eye. Very weird. We kept our eye on this chick to make sure she wasn't going to pull a gun or something. (Just because she had on a University of Chicago sweat shirt was no guarante
  3. I plan on going to see the Chamber Strings tonight at the Hideout, just to see a group in a small setting. LouieB
  4. The first night was the shortest break, maybe only about 10 minutes. They did bring up the house lights, people did go to the bathrooms and got drinks and all and all the energy was better. Subsequent nights was slightly longer. The drone at the end of the last night would have been a great way to out (empty stage and all), but getting a basically real encore after (two songs that were not on the setlist) that was a good way to go too. Someone log on and let us know if this continues during the east coast leg of the tour. LouieB
  5. Yea..what the hell..but maybe not this week...although I plan to see the Chamber Strings at the Hideout tonight.... LouieB
  6. Hey Max....seen you many times with groups around town. Thanks for stopping in. LouieB
  7. Too bad they didn't get a pic of that girl who on Saturday night was taking the "Company In My Back" quite literally... LouieB
  8. There is just entirely too much to do in Chicago..... LouieB
  9. The astounding thing about this was they copped a standard Waco Brothers riff for it. Very cool. LouieB
  10. Really...actually this is kind of dumb article.. Yea, me either... I do..... Let's assume this is a joke and move on...... LouieB
  11. Guilty pleasure suggests that the artist somehow isn't really that good and you just like them for the camp value or something. Laura Nyro was a major artist and a class act, therefore not a guilty pleasure, but someone anyone should or could enjoy. Sadly she died of ovarian cancer about 10 years ago. Her records stand with the best recordings of the 60s and 70s and her songs were huge sellers when they were covered by others. LouieB
  12. Amazing how we talk ad nauseum about some rock pioneers and others are totally forgotten. Laura is one of the greats. Her early records are great, her later records are okay, there are some good and some live albums out and an excellent compilation of her greatest work on Columbia. What on earth would be a guilty pleasure about her? She was a great songwriter and singer and piano player. Kids today..... LouieB
  13. It is also going to be worse today and tomorrow than yesterday. Last night was a marvel. I am done in. Off to work. See you in the balcony tonight. LouieB
  14. Yea, I met him a time or two...... LouieB
  15. Still alot to do even with the "regular" albums. LoiueB
  16. I definitelyl needed a night to get to bed early. Home working on actual work so I can be ready for Tuesday as a mostly regular day. LouieB
  17. My problem is I can hardly remember names sometimes....met at least 10 new people just this week, maybe more. LouieB
  18. The sound was clearly toned down last night. My ears didn't ring after Saturday, and I didn't wear ear plugs until late in the second set. LouieB
  19. My pleasure. Hopefully we will have more time some day in the future. Have a good day off..... LouieB
  20. They did a great job on it, as far as I was concerned. Great night. Andrew Bird coming out was the best thing ever. They should make him a part of the group and be done with it. Hotel Arizona was a highlight for me of course and the "real' encore with the guitar duel between Nels and Pat during Hoodoo Voodoo was the perfect way to end the night. I don't know if they have done that before (have they???) but it gave the encore a nice airing out and a way to send the crowd home happy. Aside from nearly coming to blows with a 19 year old girl who insisted on leaning against me before the s
