Didn't they play Chicago twice this summer? I didn't make either date, but I think my memory serves me well that they were here. LouieB

Here is some sweet footage of Will singing solo that Whiskey Bender and Glo No did awhile back. LouieB

Yea, I don't have a big problem with it, but no one could NOT notice it, since not only was it his first hit single, but also his first major album. I think it stuck out like a sore thumb in what was otherwise a fairly subtle and sensitive song. Frankly most of the new songs I heard the other night from the new album, including this song, are far better than most anything on the Revolution Starts .....Now. The duets wtih Allison Moorer were very fun. Steve Earle is an unbelievably great songwriter in general with a string of top notch albums. I suppose he is entitled to have a slow perio

You beat me to it....it is a sound collage, which at the time WAS pretty revolutionary.... LouieB

Anyone heard the new Weakerthans?
LouieB replied to Duck-Billed Catechist's topic in Someone Else's Song
I am only two inches ahead of aricandover..I have heard of them, but that is about all. Also I can verify that he isn't at ALL lazy....... LouieB -
Nice bald spot.... Not saying it is a bad song, but his first big hit was Guitar Town and he is referencing it in his own song which is a touch lazy. Nice guitar he played on. LouieB

Wow, looks like we helped recruit a new VCer......good times... LouieB

I guess everyone is forgetting "Why don't we do it in the road?" Mr. Kite is a freaking masterpiece compared to that. LouieB

I was there too... Earle is an excellent songwriter and some of the new stuff was pretty good, but let's face it, when a writer gets to the point where they have to reference an earlier work in a later song, they are a bit out of ideas. Actually I thought his last album was one of his weakest in general too. Great show all around though. Met some really nice people too. (Even if a few of us did get yelled at for trying to sneak into the green room and say a quick hello.) LouieB

Both XRT and most of the classic rock stations here in Chicago have played the living shit out of it for the last 30 or more years. It was a big hit single for the Kinks from day one too. I like the Kinks, but this one song has been played out as far as I am concerned. I mean it is sort of a cute song and all, but after awhile it has grown old for me personally. LouieB

Lola got played too often on the radio for too many years. I don't care if I never hear it again..... Arthur is one of the greatest albums of all time though... LouieB

I was just listening to the Kink Kronicles the other day... LouieB

George...of course there are only two Beatles still having solo careers...(don't want to bum anyone out here...) LouieB

No I really DON'T care, but I figure, what the hell, let's run up the total. Busy and not on so much....other than that...... LouieB

Horn sections are often good. Groups should do it more often. LouieB

I was there too, but only stayed at the main stage except to see Joe Henry play in the mud and John Prine when the mainstage was over. Actually I am going with Wendy. Thanks Wendy.... LouieB

Being There one of GQ 50th's "22 albums that changed men's lives"
LouieB replied to Lodestar's topic in Just A Fan
The whole thing looks like they cut up a best of list from Rolling Stone and picked out 22 just to be different. LouieB -
You are in my thoughts also. It is very tough to lose a close relative, particularly grandparents or parents. Hang in there. LouieB

You are certainly in my thoughts (maybe too late) but this is a tough time. edit-My condolences at this point. Hang in there. LouieB

Are The Beatles your favorite band ever?
LouieB replied to Sir Stewart's topic in Someone Else's Song
The question is just too hard..I can't vote.... LouieB -
Don't get me wrong...I enjoyed them well enough for the 6 or so songs I watched closely...then....eh.... LouieB

Okay fine. At the moment I certainly can't think of anything better, but I can think of alot worse. LouieB

I don't know if this will work, but apparently the old Tyrannausaus stuff is in print. Good deal. I specifically remember Unicorn. These guys were prolific, before Bolin went out on his own. LouieB

Apparently The Rave is not sold out for this week. Worst venue ever..... Of course Lounge Ax would be the best, it only held a few hundred people. LouieB
