  1. I overcame my fear of these things through many instillations, but I certainly don't recommend it to anyone. Most other proceedures can be made rather painlessly and even NG tube technology is better than it was my first time through, but there is no way having a tube shoved down your nose to your stomach can be pleasant (especially if it doesn't go well and comes out your mouth first.) Thanks again to all who have stopped by here and PMed me in private with stories and good vibes. Everyday gets a little better and today is no exception. Think I will head back to bed though. LouieB
  2. I thought he was just happy all the time... LouieB
  3. I got OK Computer and never felt the need to check anything else out..... LouieB
  4. Thanks.... During my last hospitalization 10 years ago, Jordan was on the Bulls and it helped me many a night while sittting in the hospital with the tube down my nose. I am certainly happy to have the Series tonight. Go Boston.......(always been an American League fan and see no reason that the Bosox can't sweep this thing.) I never had really computed laying down but it ain't all bad. LouieB
  5. Thanks for the kind wishes. I believe there are a number of the photographs at the exhibit at the CMA, in fact it is some of the best stuff there. (along with the Velvet Undergound film material.) LouieB
  6. Must not be health then......that was just my first thought and I have been out of it for a couple weeks. I guess Tony is REALLY playing hardball these days. LouieB
  7. Wow man, I am really not trying to get into an argument with you, but you said you had never heard of WXRT. That seems impossible. Not only are they the best (arguably of course) commercial rock station in town, but they sponsor gobs of shows, both small and large including Wilco. Their PR is plastered on everything at many events particularly music ones. Lots of people say they are from Chicago and are in fact from the suburbs, so I just really gotta wonder. LouieB
  8. That I do. There is a pile of vinyl and CDs that will get some spins in the next couple weeks that I have not had time to listen to in past months. Since I won't be out buying I guess I should thin down the stuff I have already bought. Currently spinning Diz and Roy from 1955 on Verve. Well see this is the thing, I knew Paul was also out of commission and didn't post up and I do believe another person or two did the same thing, so I didn't feel it was appropriate to post up my issues. Thanks to all for your best wishes. This is something I have been talking about for about a year, so it w
  9. I would think you might hate them, but then again maybe not. Either way I think the story is fairly compelling and was certainly shocking when the events actually occured. I don't know that I was actually waiting for them to show up in the USA, but Love Will Tear Us Apart was very different than other songs of that period and dark, dark dark. As for burying my health news in a music thread, well, really I was not looking for any attention (I have in the past, but again that was when this was a much smaller board) and just figured I would deal with it when I felt better. There were enough
  10. I haven't read the entire thread, but frankly if shows are canceled it is probably due to some illness which should be a major cause for concern. LouieB
  11. That's an understatement, but I suppose it is one of the better "commercial sations" which it did not start out as (it was 4 hours a night back in the 70s), but now the play list is so (relatively) short that if you leave it on for more than 20 minutes you can be sure to hear REM, The Cure, Talking Heads (all of whom I like) before the hour is out. Otherwise it tends to play the same damn cut by some of their favorites over and over again too, sometimes for years. You must be new to Chicago.... LouieB
  12. Its a bitch getting old or having a chronic illness. Thanks. We all just have to hang in there. Actually there is a medical component to this movie, since Curtis had epilepsy and shouldn't have been trying to live the rock life. Hell there are days just living the rock FAN life is hard enough. LouieB
  13. Sort of.....I didn't post this all up because the "group" ain't what it was and because it seemed like a kind of blatant request for vibes and attention. The short form (and the Chicago folks knew this) is that I had another bowel resection, so yea, it was major abdominal surgery and pretty dreadful (last Thursday), but I am on the mend. LouieB
  14. Fun movie....and not a bad representation of JD either. I will never forget hearing "Love Will Tear Us Apart" for the first time. LouieB
  15. Congrats.....I now have a second scar on my stomach and won't be in circulation for a bit.... LouieB
  16. I guess I have been MIA a bit here, sorry. I was out for surgery so perhaps this thread went right by me. I logged back in today and most of these threads are exactly the same as they were went I was out so I figured, hey time for something new. Even the thread that does exist isn't on the first page because I did look before I posted up. LouieB
  17. I can't wait to see this movie, although I am kinda laid up so I may have to wait for video. Anyone want to go see it for me? LouieB
  18. Pretty annoying for about 95% of it, but his point that many bands don't know how to "swing" isn't so far off. I used to make jokes about Sufjan Stevens having SDD - swing deficit disorder. The guy has no idea how to swing at all and many bands now don't. Back beat and other rhythmic devises are a thing of the past. LouieB
  19. Oh the Grateful Dead are totally under-appreciated..... LouieB
  20. We have been here too long. I think this is an ongoing topic forever. I hit the wall last week when someone suggested that Van Morrisson was underappreciated.... LouieB
  21. Bind me tie me Chain me to the wall I wanna be a slave To you all Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more Chain-store chain-smoke I consume you all Chain-gang chain-mail I don't think at all Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more Thrash me crash me Beat me till I fall I wanna be a victim For you all Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more Oh bondage up yours Oh bondage no more LouieB
  22. And as some youngster here told me a year or so ago, it was the only time George EVER toured, something I never really thought about. (Was it 74??) I also saw not the original line-up of Fairport Convention, but the group after Sandy Denny rejoined the group (post Richard Thompson), but they were absolutely fabulous.....rocked the place down.
