  1. In this case, yea. I had not bought the reissue of the Reprise sessions until I found a copy used a few months back. The outtakes were certainly worth it I suppose. But some of the early folkie stuff is of minor interest to say the least. Interesting for a listen or two and that is about it. LouieB
  2. Yea, let's hope it is worthwhile. Some of the Gram releases are less than thrilling, but somehow I have managed to buy them all anyway.... LouieB
  3. We are consumers.....we get fucked no matter what we do... I made a foray out to Laurie's yesterday but forgot to check if this has been released in hard copy already.... LouieB
  4. Yea, the backlash could be extreme, but then again she could get many groups that have not been all that interested in the past too. Don't discount the fact that she would be the first female candidate will also get some folks on her side as well. John Kerry was a hard sell last time out; he should have been a shoe in also, but he couldn't do jack, so at what point does it look like Obama or Edwards has any more ability to rally folks. Obama maybe does, but his relative newness to national politics could be a detriment (not to mention his ties to the Chicago machine...). Calling Kucinich
  5. Thanks..will give this a try. I think the album is really good...was glad to come across a used copy. Actually downloaded these extras...good stuff also. LouieB
  6. Yea yea..sure....Bush Clinton, Bush, Clinton etc. etc. I know this. Some countries have the same leaders for decades even ones that are democratic. Look who is back in Pakistan. Recycling leadership isn't that unusual since those are the folks with the resources and name recognition to keep coming back. Even though the rest of the field on both sides are relatively new, they are also the same old shit. Many have held elected office for decades as well. Hillary doesn't make me jump up and down for joy and I intend to vote for Obama who is relatively new blood (also fairly inexperien
  7. I have buzzed through this show a few times when on the road.....it can't be canceled soon enough...what total crap. LouieB
  8. I have never been able to figure out what the expression "simulating drowning" means? If someone is running water over your mouth and nose isn't that close enough to actually drown if you can't breath? And yea it is torture. LouieB
  9. No, Just the one. That's what was with the used copy I bought. What is on the bonus? More music or vids? LouieB
  10. I can't wait for the general election- things got so interesting around here a couple years ago. I think we are so shell shocked by the Bush administration that we can't even imagine it might be better under someone else. The fact is despite all of Hillary's deficits, she will be far better than W was, period. We have lived through one of hte worst times ever, with an endless war that we shouldn't have started and now can't end, and which is costing us billions in resources that we could use to solve any number of problems; now we have just created more. Liars, bullshitters...sure...o
  11. Uh...good album, but could the Tweedy vocals be buried any further in the mix.... Having said that I do like it... LouieB
  12. The guy's point is well taken, but the article itself is so badly written and the gratuitious shot at Wilco for no good reason also was pretty shitty. LouieB
  13. I have totally given up any semblence of sense on this one and figure Hillary is just fine. After eight years of George Bush, who the fuck really cares. How much worse can she mess things up? And she could be the first female president to boot. I like Obama and plan to vote for him in the primary, since he is from Illinois. I remember Kusinich as the boy mayor of Cleveland and while his positions are usually PC he is isn't going anywhere but back to Cleveland. I like Edwards okay and I like most of the rest of the field except for the dreadfully old school guy Chris Dodd. I plan to v
  14. I am sad he is going off the PMs since I get to listen to that more than AM. Frankly I thought the entire lineup on CKG was pretty entertaining (minus the dreadful Opie and Anthony and the crap they had on after the younger Dahl); I am particulary sorry to see Stan and Terry go, since I thought there show was particularly entertaining. Even Garry Meier's return to the air was okay by me. I have been listening to Steve since the very early days (early 80s anyway). He has had his ups and downs, but always was relatively entertaining I thought and many times had on interesting musicians, inc
  15. danny did a good job. Uptown is perfect for starving students and not as scary as it used to be. My nephew recently moved there with roomates and is doing quite fine. Many neighborhoods have gotten expensive in the last few years. LouieB
  16. Agreed.....not going to buy this one either (oh yea I did buy the Seeger Sessions only because I found a $3 vinyl copy), but you gotta give the guy credit for being old school and hanging in there....he made some of my all time favorites though.. LouieB
  17. This should be a great film.....a more than worthy subject for a documentary. LouieB
  18. Just for the record, the Beach Boys pre-date hippies.....other than that as mentioned I did give them a spin just for the hell of it (man they put out some crappy songs on those albums....) LouieB
  19. They are a great backing band... What I like about their own stuff is they get in and get out in a hurry...no messin around. LouieB
  20. i was just playing Surfin Safari today...found a nice original copy at a resale shop for 50 cent recently.... Man those guys were young.... LouieB
  21. Good to see them give some space to some old timers..... LouieB
  22. It is also out on vinyl I hear...... LouieB
  23. I don't remember that but I do remember their show..... LouieB
