Could be. I didn't look up the set list. It was good, but there are several sort of generic blues on both those albums. Yea, they had shirts and albums. LouieB

During the Wilco break I am hoping we see Glenn and some of the other band members doing these kinds of gigs on a regular basis. LouieB

The one thing I missed this time out, from the show at the Auditorium with Merle Haggard was what I thought was a wonderful female violin player. Dylan actually interacted and smiled at the band toward the end of the show the other night. The guy is still having fun at 65. LouieB

I am going to guess that this is one of the lowest rated World Series ever. Besides it being two midwest teams (which I personally liked), Detroit prety much self destructed and many of the games were downright boring. Congrats to Tony LaRussa and the Cards in any event. LouieB

The Decemberists: Prog Rock is Back in Style, Right?

This is the Decemberists month. They also have an article in No Depression. LouieB -
As mentioned in one of the other threads, I made the trek out to the new Sears Center in Hoffman estates, spending big bucks to see Bob Dylan. It was worth it however. The Sears Center is a brand spanking new venue that looks like a hockey arena; clean and a bit sterile. Parking is $10, but the staff was nice and the seating and sound good. We had seats three rows up on the left side so we were facing Dylan, luckily. Fountains of Wayne, I mean Kings of Leon, were pretty good and pretty loud and very generic. They thanked the crowd on Saturday night by saying we were better than the crowd

Nothing is a secret anymore. The Shaggs are a well known cult group I suppose. There was an article on them in the New Yorker a few years back and I think there was also a play (musical???) about them as well. Steve Dahl plays them regularly also. I had a friend who had their album way back in the dark ages. It continues to be in print and available. Actually I think there was a complete set of their material available not too long ago either. Scary. LouieB

Oh come on.....I saw this show on Saturday night and while KoL were okay, they were not even close to Dylan who put on a great show with a great band and classic material. KoL were totally generic and bland, but not offensive. More on all this later. LouieB

I have tried to play the clip from this thread a few times and can't get it to go. Any suggestions? LouieB -
Jay Bennett is playing for free in Baltimore tonight

Even if you were, I wouldn't be buying. Didn't buy the BPB disk, but I do hear it is good.LouieB -
Oh right....yea..okay. Time for that title to be retired I guess. "What's so funny" is a great song and is always fun to hear. LouieB

Not a surprise that the Cardinals came to play and are doing a good job, but I don't believe anyone anticipated that the Tigers would stop hitting, field badly and simply not play up to their potential. The long layoff between series apparently was not to their advantage. LouieB

Congrats to LaRussa no matter how he looks. He has done what everyone thought impossible, put Detroit on the ropes. LouieB

Which one? Dylan or the Beatles or is there some other song with that title? LouieB

I know what you mean, this show seems totally superfulous, but someone must think these types of shows are a good idea and when well done, such Mama Mia, whatever the Four Seasons one is called, Movin Out and Tommy (none of which I can imagine attending), they must attract a decent audience, since all of those played for awhile. There have been a whole bunch of lousy ones, several mentioned in the review, so just like any show, I guess it is possible to present someone's body of work well or badly. I mean Cats was based on some TS Elliott poems and while I also wouldn't want to see that ei -

While most of us and this reviewer wouldn't really like this show, that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of others that will. Frankly I found the song selection fairly mundane, and allegedly Twyla Tharp listened to most of Dylan's calalogue. there must be a market for this stuff because these kinds of shows keep on coming. Let's be honest, the American musical theater just isn't what it used to be, so they have to keep finding movies to turn into musicals and create shows from artists back catalogues to try and please the tourists. Luckily this is one they didn't try out in Chicago. Loui -
I really dig his cover of John Wesley Harding. LouieB

Mostly on WXRT though as opposed to the more conventional stations, but at least they get played reasonably often on XRT. LouieB

Broadway is ever so slightly bankrupt these days, but there is getting to be a long history of these kinds of shows and apparently Dylan gave his blessing to it. LouieB
