That appears to be the case....he has listed exactly zero personal information. This must be the second coming.... LouieB

No way I am taking this point by point, but the following things I do want to respond to. I don't attend bluegrass fests, but I did make a trip to ground zero of bluegrass last fall along the VA/NC board and the audiences at every show I went to were way older than me. Bluegrass fests used to be rather staid affairs, with no drinking and a family friendly atmosphere and I believe the older ones still are (I did attend Bean Blossom in Indiana many years ago and it was very controled and not debauched at all)Classical music does tend to look back, but there are many modern classical composers w

Glenn is a fantastic drummer and an essential part of the current Wilco. I hope he never leaves. Monkey Chant is great. LouieB

Nearly every recording artist of any stature has put out videos in the last 20 years. Those who don't either aren't all that big or have faded into oblivion. The occasional video is a necessary PR artifact as surely as CDs and performance videos. Meanwhile, being nasty about liking or not liking Wilco material seems rather petty to me personally. I mean if you don't like the product, don't buy it or listen to it, there are other groups. If you like the group, have a bit of tolerance. Wilco has yet to put out a bad album in my estimation and frankly the new material sounds pretty darn g

Sadly Miles was forced to stop making records a few years back. LouieB -
Wow, where you do start with this. First off, irony is clearly lost on this guy. Of course we don't all have to go to classical concerts rather than rock ones, but the point is, some types of music (including jazz and folk venues to a greater or lesser extent), do not tolerate the kind of behavior that goes on at rock shows. FYI to jono11, I come home many a night smelling like beer and cigarettes, because I like seeing rock music also. I am also in the demographic of the guy he was dissing and more often than not it is the younger fans who act the fool rather than the older ones since th

I enjoyed the show in West Layfayette despite it being somewhat tense and emotional. The band was tight, Jeff was surprisingly engaged and it was a nice time. LouieB

Obviously I am kidding (well half..), but the more often you go to shows the more crazy shit you see. But you can make a stab (literally or figuratively) at trying to get someone to understand that they are being obnoxious, but usually the obnoxious one won't acknowledge their behavior. I know we have been down this road before, but GA shows and the lack of ushers, security or good common sense even at seated shows, is pretty much out the window at some gigs. GA shows are what everyone wants but everyone still sort of hates. I mean I have been to GA shows where it isn't yet crowded and

Smaller than the Purdue crowd? I would guess there were about 2000 people in a 6000 seater in West Layfayette. LouieB

yea.....exactly...silly me...I must have been thinking of this guy.. but IS this Duane or someone else? LouieB

very cool....as I recall there was no beer at Purdue either. Nor at the Univ of IN show. I am liking no beer and no smoking a whole lot.... LouieB

There is no rock concert etiquette...everyone knows that. Anything goes!! You can puke on someone, spill beer on them, burn them with your cigarette, push them aside to get upfront, scream at the top of your lungs even during quiet songs, talk during the entire show even if you paid alot of money for tickets, threaten people for no reason, get on stage and accoust the performer, etc. etc. LouieB

Thank goodness for the internet.... I still have my brown and black saddle shoes from HS. Yup guys actually wore those... LouieB

Have you been to the Auditorium? If not expect long lines for drinks. The auditorium (unlike the Vic) doesn't have good logisitics for lots of beer consumption. LouieB

Did anyone mention Zappa? LouieB
-
This is probably true, but just as we discussed in years past, it doesn't necessarily make it easier to take that you just have to expect a certain percentage of assholes at rock shows. If you want 0% assholes, go to a classical concert instead. LouieB

This is a perenial problem that clearly isn't getting better. Discussions about rock audiences were common here a couple years ago, but clearly shows with alcholol are far worse than those without and rock audiences are far worse than other types of music. LouieB
