Calexico Sept 27th Pabst Theatre Milwaukee
LouieB replied to Smokestack Joe's topic in Someone Else's Song
Calexico is a great great live band. I find their new album a bit cold, but in person it gets nice and hot. LouieB -
If I can I will. He is a friend of a friend and a fun performer. Anyone want to hit the Double Door? LouieB

Wow, that is a bunch of times......I think you have seen him enough. LouieB

As a fan of Butch Vig I like Nevermind.....nevermind that it hasn't aged well.....who has? LouieB

I got an email from one of my colleagues at a school praising this show. Sounds like it was a good time (although she said she didn't like Schubas????!!?!?! Go figure.) LouieB

First thing that popped into my head was Desert Rose Band.... LouieB

Yea, Logan Square actually is a horrible venue. I posted up that Wilco gets priority for sure. Saturday for sure. Now I just have to get some maps to figure out how to get across Indiana and into Ohio. I can party in Ft. Wayne until you are ready to throw me out. I don't have to be in Ohio until midnight. LouieB

28 times?? Actually I didn't realize he is playing two nights.....either way Wilco gets first priority for me. And as usual there is way more happening in Chicago than can ever be done. There are probably a dozen other good shows of lesser intensity those couple nights. LouieB

No love for Andrew Bird??? Both Bird and MMJ will return. LouieB

Me either...what are we talking about?? LouieB

The 70s weren't bad; I became an adult so it was cool, but let's be honest....the 60's were pretty darn good (as were the 50's, 40's, 30's and 20's.) LouieB

Alejandro is a musicians musician, but he also has written some interesting and touching songs. The fact that he came back from a serious case of Hep C makes any performance special. The guy is not a kid anymore and has a three decade history in the music business. LouieB

I think you have to like southern rock to get into DBT, otherwise they are going to leave you cold. Frankly there hasn't been an act quite like this in a decade or two, so trading on Skynard and other southern rock groups from the 70s and 80s does give these guys something to trade on. I like them and think they are a great live act (but really loud). However if you didn't like some of the southern rock groups first time around, these guys won't do it for you either. Southern Rock opera is a great concept album if you go with the concept. Interesting take on southern identity. Decoration

I saw the video for the Timberlake video the other day and nearly barfed. Not at the video per se (which was terrible), but at the absolutely horrendous quality of the song itself. Just awful. As usual I know few of these songs anyway, but Snow Patrol has certainly lost its indie cred I guess. LouieB

See NOW we have something to talk about.....Gnarls Barkely still in the top 10...sweet. (How has Justin Timberlake managed #1??) LouieB
