Jason had a short, brilliant, and productive career. Addiction is a sad and brutal disease. LouieB

This is very sad news. He made some great music. LouieB

Just thinking of John Paul I who only lasted just over 4 weeks and got a song written for him by Patti Smith. LouieB

I would go with Low and Heros myself, but I am not that big a Bowie fan. (My daughter is though.) Low is the one LP folks look for when we sell LPs at record sales. LouieB

They seem to have been dealt with years ago. If I were a progressive Catholic I would be concerned about hsi feeling about gay adoption (I suppose gay marriage, birth control and all that other sex stuff is a no brainer even at this late date.) LouieB

If folks have tourist suggestions, please post those up in the what to do in Chicago thread. We all need to know new places to eat, stay, etc. And for those who are sticking around a day or two, please post up what you did that was fun. Thanks. LouieB -
I must have missed something here, because I was unaware the guy wrote a memoir. The question at this stage is why? He is not even 50 yet I don't believe. He is not a big charismatic music star either. I could see it if he had a huge career with millions of adoring fans just waiting to hear a word or two from him. But this is a guy who only sells a moderate amount of records, won't talk on stage, and doesn't have much of an act other than playing guitar and singing. He has no disenable health or drug problems and is incredibly boring in most respects. The fact that he won't discuss Unc

He wants to repeal it AND keep the savings from it. Somehow he can't have it both ways. LouieB

Whoa man, now it is going to be harder to get you up for stuff in the city. Sorry to hear that on one level, but totally understand. Regarding the lack of distribution of CDs/LPs; this is why they invented the internet. Everything is available for sale there. REmember lots of folks selling stuff on the interenet are small time vendors and stores, so patronizing then is prefectly okay. LouieB

" The same party that tells us the sugary drinks and unhealthy" Actually that would be Mayor Bloomberg who is mostly been a Republican all his life. So you even have that wrong. LouieB

So many to choose from Of course Kerouac and Burroughs. I used to read alot of Emile Zola Tolstoy and Dosteyevsky Dos Passos, Steinbeck, Frank Norris Thomas Wolfe Will think of some others. LouieB

I am sure HIxter thinks Media Matters is just biased liberal media anyway. I also found the study about gun violence being less in states with more restrictive guns laws interesting and the study about gun ownership being lower than ever. Someone else will have to post links to these. We may be part of the problem, but the fact is that we are the majority at the moment so really its the Republicans that are the problem. Until Hixter comes out and says he is for immigration reform, same sex marriage, and continuation of abortion rights, I would have to say he has thrown his lot in with

Broken Flowers is a very good movie. LouieB

I would say you are pretty good at that.actually. Do you make as many spelling and grammar mistakes in your head as I do? i know that was quite a rant, but really!!! The guy isn't all that far left. LouieB

You might want to change parties since your Republicans are a heinous bunch and our Democratic President is the best Republican in a long time. Government spending is at its lowest level in years, government employment levels are at record lows, and Barack is doing double back flips trying to get everyone to come to the fucking table. Imagine a Romney presidency at this point. Yikes. If the wars in Iraq and Afganistan had been on the books, instead of off the books, we wouldn't have this huge ass deficit. Barack has killed more terrorists than George W could even think about. There are j

That is my assumption and certainly what I hope. Considering he just toured with the Monkees (a day late and a Davy short) I would guess that's exactly what is going to happen. The guy isn't that young anymore so I am also sure that he will do a bunch of talking. That's okay. LouieB
-
It might be. I am all in favor of discussing how to reduce gun violence or reduce the deficit, but every time we do it seems like the solution from the right (not naming names) is to suggest that the government shouldn't be involved or that collective action isn't necessary.. LouieB

I was actually. That was an interesting show, but he is better doing is own songs, with or without a band. I nearly went to the one in October, but just didn't get my butt out o fthe house for the second "requests" show. He is definitely one one of the funniest performers ever. LouieB

Just us? Ask your fellow fans sometime (as I have) if they are on VC and many have never heard of this place. LouieB

Lucky you I guess. I suppose no one else is ever supposed to need it either. LouieB

He was just at the OTS in October. But he may well come back. He seems to play Chicago about once a year. LouieB

Yea, that does look pretty cool. Hey Calvino, come to the Northside, Laurie's has CDs and they may get some LP versions. LouieB
-
Maybe HIxter can shed some light on that for ya!!! LouieB

Yea, no real idea what to expect, but as long as he plays his handful of greatest hits (non- Monkees) I will be happy. They sold a limited numberof meet and greet tix for $50 per. I know he is a celeb and all, but really?? LouieB
