  1. Good for him. Now if he can lighten up on some other stuff. LouieB
  2. The world has turned. Everyone knows this fight is unwinnable. LouieB
  3. This livingroom show is kind of goofy. Chicago's show is sold out. LouieB
  4. I am figuring on lots of talk at these shows. How could he not? LouieB
  5. I was going to ask the same thing. Come on all you right wingers, time to come out of the closet. LouieB
  6. Thanks for posting this. I hear the sound of a few more right wing fans loosing their shit. LouieB
  7. Some of these albums are still available used. Regarding tapes; there is plenty of nostalgia for cassettes. LouieB
  8. Well this should piss off some right wing Wilco fans. Imagine a mere musician expressing such an opinion in public. LouieB
  9. Its mostly excellent actually although disk one is stronger than disk two. LouieB
  10. Steve Earle's political views during a concert as as much a part of his act as others who do their greatest hits, playing new material no one likes, guitar solos, telling bad jokes or engage in long rambing stories or do anything else they consider entertaining. Simply because you pay for a show doesn't mean you get to decide what the person on stage gets to do. You can walk out, but really you buy into the performance once you pay for it. There isn't any way Steve Earle is giong to just shut up and play hsi songs (some of which are highly political anyway, as we all know). At this late

  12. Not sure Moe is a homophobe. Luckily she stays mostly out of the public eye these days. LouieB
  13. Being curious I read the material she allegedly wrote and it makes no sense either way. I don't care about her evangelical, penticostal, or any other religious belief she holds, that's her business, but if she said was misconstued, her follow-up is about as clear as mud. And as I have said before, I don't care if musicians talk politics, religion or spout stupid bullshit during a show. That may be something they want to do, but clearly she hasn't really thought this out very well and seems highly conflicted. All this reminds me of the late caeer of Phi Ochs when he started going off th
  14. Exactly. For those who remember Michelle from her heyday, she was an alt-rock (what indie rock was called back then) darling, The Texas Campfire Tapes were a sensation of lo-fi and small artist winning a plalce in the major label game. Then she put out a series of critically aclaimed albums. (It is also forgotten that when she corraled Uncle Tupelo, she also got the Band on board with that tour.) IT's all a mystery. LouieB
  15. I agree about MIchael Richards entirely. He thought it was funny and clearly it wasn't Jason Molina was a suffering from his own form of mental illness and paid the ultimate price by drinking himself to death. We don't know what Michelle Shocked problem is but clearly she has one. It is easy enouugh to dismiss her outburst as a conscious decision to embrace a hateful worldview, but we don't know that it isn't a symtom of some more deep seated and serious mental disturbance. That's all I am saying, nothing more. Clearly it is impossible to condone her rant, but it may well be a person
  16. Wasn't she actually married awhle back? She be crazy I guess. Really it is sad. This is probably a mental health/chemical imbalance thing. It's kind of interesting on a human level. Yesterday was a weird day. This story which was clearly shocking and upsetting on one level and the death of Jason Molina was also shocking and upsetting as well for what could well be exactly the same kind of issue manifest in a very different sense. Addiction is also an illness which resulted in Jason's untimely death. This crazy outburst is also a symptom of illness but we (including me up to this poin
  17. Yea, you really can't even say this kind of stuff in jest, a la Michael Richards. Clearly she wasn't trying to be funny, so now her tour dates are drying up. There was one scheduled here in Evanston that was just canceled this morning. If there is a right wing religious circuit I guess that will have to be what she plays now, since the hippie/hipster/leftwing folkie venues are not going to want her. LouieB
  18. The story seemed to be that they didn't get along. It was a bit of a big break for them to be on that tour, but they did back out. Maybe someone knows more gory details. I have that album and remember liking it at the time. I liked her alot through that period. LouieB
  19. She is now born again, which instead of meaning she is now more committed to social justice, the oppressed and the poor, she is simply another right wing idiot. Thanks Michelle. LOuieB
  20. I couldn't help but admire the beautiful red Epiphone electric JIm Becker was playing during some of the evening. I guess being part of Iron and Wine paid off. LouieB
  21. Really sorry to hear this. Very sad.. LouieB
  22. CPAC doesn't have to speak for the Republican Party and in fact it does not. Republicans if they wish could speak for themselves but many choose not to. It is jsut like the bigoted right wing Christians who don't speak for all Christians. It is up to the rest of the Republicans to break away and it isn't going to be the Rand Pauls and the Marco Rubios who end up as the next wave of Republican leaders. They have now hitched their wagons to this shit and they are going to be stuck with it. Luckily for some Republicans with sense, like Chris Christy, they can walk away from this and return to
  23. That was fun. It is always enjoyable to see Glenn doing improvisation with his old friends including Darren Gray, Joe Adamik, and Jim Becker. Good time. LouieB
