A discussion on how does SBS resembles other Wilco
So Long replied to Wilco LP #7's topic in Just A Fan
I think that SBS can be compared to Being There in the sense that they're more straight-forward, and beautiful songs. I can definately relate to the Born Again in the USA comparison. Seeing how that was the nearest Tweedy release to Sky Blue Sky, it definately shows the direction his songwriting was going. And it's a particular avenue I love. -
god damn Eagles.

What Light's up on their MySpace as well...I assume this is the single

Will Wilco ever make it on the cover of Rolling Stone?
So Long replied to jdmel's topic in Just A Fan
I think it's a definate possibility this year. -
I think Summerteeth aged very well, personally. I'm afraid we won't see as many YHF tracks on this tour, here's my wishlist for set list songs: From YHF: IATTBYH, Jesus etc, Heavy Metal Drummer, Ashes of American Flags From AGIB: Company in my back, hummingbird, muzzle of bees (PLEASE!), late greats, Spiders from ST: Shot in the Arm, Via Chicago, She's a jar (how cool would that be?!), ELT, I'm Always in love from BT: Misunderstood, Forget the flowers, Monday, Kingpin from AM: Should've been in love???

smooth jazz kicks ass. Nels Cline smooth jazz guitar sounds mixed with Jeff Tweedy's lyrics is amazing! Jesusetc84...are we gonna need to go outside and fight about this?!

I gave it an 8. As much as I love the album so far, everytime I listen to it I think of songs like A Shot in the Arm, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, or even Spiders...and I can't help but miss the boldness of those records. SBS sounds like a very safe record. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Grandpa?!

...I kinda need tomorrow's Heroes too...

at the Florence MA show this summer Jeff was wrestling with a blow-up raft. It was quite funny actually...
-
oh boy, let the petty fights begin...

that was quite the bullshit review Jesusetc84...are you Jay Bennett?

on the sbs part of Wilcoworld (where we heard the stream), it's currently listed as Walken...

My INITIAL (not final...because I'm gonna listen to it at least 300 more times before it's actual release), is this album is great. 8.5/9 out of 10. Really awesome. John's bass playing really stood out on this record, he was finally given his time to shine. Nel's solos were amazing. I think the solos on Impossible Germany were rather minimalistic compared to the live versions, so I don't really understand people's complaints saying he "overplays". Kotche held it down (SON!). His playing on this was untouchable, perfect. And this album solidifies Jeff Tweedy's position as god... and I

I'm floored by on and on and on...

Cat Stevens was never bad, he's bad ass. Awesome actually, but Wilco's take on Cat Stevens may be risky..
-
I'm glad they changed the key of what light...less Cat Stevens
-
also, Nel's solo on Walken is amazing.

thank god for Jim O'Rourke's mixing. perfection.
