Like someone said earlier, phish also varies their setlists a lot more than the dead ever did.

While the album is definitely growing on me, it’s certainly not one that I have any desire to listen to multiple times in a row. I haven’t decided yet if that’s because it’s not good enough to warrant that or if it’s so heavy and dark that I need a break after each listen.

It would be incredible and I would see them so much more than I already do. That's why the residency in 2008, the shrinking tour in 2011 and the winterlude in 2014 were so great. There were some repeats every night, but each show was largely unique.

I will say that I like Love is Everywhere so much better in the context of the album than just as a single. It works really great as a breath of fresh air after all of the darkness that precedes it.

Yes John, vary the setlists in America, like Phish!

I love Yo La Tengo, but there seems to be more nuance and variety in their quieter stuff. Maybe the nuance will reveal itself on this album the more I listen to it, but right now it’s kind of monotonous.

I do wonder if continually minimal albums like this and Schmilco that seem to basically be Jeff and friends albums could lead to discontent among some members of the band.

I've had Kung Fu replace damaged posters i've ordered from them. If my copy shows up warped, I sure as hell am going to have them send me a new one!
-
I don't think this album will be making them any new fans, seems like the type of album only a fan of the band would like.
-
For those who have seen them on this tour, how do the new songs integrate into the set? Seems like the shows could be pretty mellow.
-
First reaction is that it’s like Schmilco and Ghost had a baby. I like it, but wish there was a little more rock. It is a very very downbeat album, which makes me concerned that it will seem very one note as I listen more.

I just got my notice that my order has shipped and will arrive on Monday. So lame.

I like the balcony at Chicago Theatre a lot. Would rather have gotten tickets there than at the back of the first floor tbh.

I think it's funny that people lump SW in with Schmilco. The only thing similar about them is their short length and the fact that they were borne of the same sessions. I would gladly take more records like SW, whereas I am kind of over the Schmilco direction. I agree 100%. Once they stopped including the digital download card in the vinyl releases, they kind of forced my hand to buy from them to get the digital files. But yeah, it's real annoying. Hopefully my record shows up, sans shipping notice, in the next day or two, but I am not optimistic!
-
I usually buy from my record store but the only way to get the digital files with my vinyl Ian buying directly through the band unfortunately.
-
Has anyone gotten notice that their vinyl has shipped? I was hoping I’d have it on release day but that clearly isn’t happening (which is annoying).

Farm Aid was fun, but shit that was a long day of music. I was totally fried by the time Neil came on and we only stuck around to watch a few songs of Willie's set since everything was running so late.

Had I known that decent tickets would still be available an hour after onsale, I wouldn't have settled for my back of the room floor seats I bought on Wednesday! I'm actually kind of surprised these didn't sell out this morning.
-
Huge pain in the ass this morning, but I got tickets to all 4 nights. Couple of them are in the back of the floor which is not ideal, but at least I don’t have to deal with any more on sales.
-
I want to know how he has the time and money to follow them around (something to aspire to)!
-
Given the lack of set list variety, I probably don’t need to go to all 4 of these, but at the same time, not going to all 4 of them seems like a bad idea!
