I enjoyed it a lot more after I finally saw the movie - just added a lot of context for some reason and more of the songs hit home. I seem to be alone in this but I don't really enjoy Tweedy's cover ... I was so excited to see that he was doing that song when the tracklist was released but I just don't like that he sings the whole thing in his upper vocal register and hits the "sat together in the park! / as the evening sky grew dark!" parts so hard. Again, just me though.

I saw it at the Music Box when it was playing on the smaller of the two screens, which actually fit the movie quite well. The theater was empty enough as it was that the large room would have been more than a bit strange. I do remember it was a beautiful fall day and it was either a weekend or I had taken the day off of work and saw it with my roommate at the time. We walked home from the theater pretty enthralled with the movie, it was really a great day. They were also opening shows with that playing over the PA around that time ... What was the audition process like for Check Please? If accepted on the show do they give you any money for the meal or is the whole thing done on your dime?

While Milk and Honey does get pretty busy, they have a great system where you order at the counter right as you enter so when you get a table your food is basically ready right when you sit down.

They've been around the Milwaukee music scene for a long time, I'm glad to hear they are still playing these days. I'm not sure if they have the same lineup, but Chris Vos (sp?) ripped on lap steel the times I saw them.

This could have something to do with the Mahdi Army calling a six month truce at the end of August. Maybe.

I absolutely love that Wolf guitar ... the Dick's Picks from 12/29/77 where Garcia pulls it out from the mothballs after a long break is awesome, you can just hear the energy in his playing.

I thought the same thing ... then recently I tried to watch a regular DVD of Aranofsky's The Fountain on our new TV - it was absolutely unwatchable. I'm not talking about being a picky videophile type person, it was hard to watch. It was so noticeably blocky and off-colored that I only made it through five minutes. We switched to watching Half Nelson and it wasn't nearly as bad, but The Fountain is clearly one film that will benefit from a HD release. Myself, I'm not guessing either way. I can wait until a clear winner emerges.
