  1. B.B. King - his sound is so distinct it takes only one note to know it's him
  2. Yeah, pretty much sums up my opinion of the band. Another singer and I'd probably dig this band more.
  3. Loving the sound of this pedal. The red and white gives it a nice Christmas-y look too.
  4. We started watching that last night after watching "Drive." It was late so unfortunately we didn't get to finish it, looking forward to doing so today. I'm loving the mood and feel of the film so far, I'm a Woody fan so I can't say I'm surprised.
  5. That comment right there tells me all I need to know about this person. Definitely not someone who's opinion is worth a damn. Their comments are probably masking some deep-seated jealousy I bet.
  6. Not sure, but you might be thinking of the song "Please Tell My Brother." It's on the Golden Smog disc "Weird Tales." part of the lyrics are: please tell my sister I miss her too my nieces and nepfews and their swimming pools when I think about her her skies are blue please tell my sister I miss her too...
  7. Got this one from Amazon.com for $0.01. Pretty good deal I'd say.
  8. For about $400 you can get a Rega RP1. For the money one of the best turntables you can get I believe. I got mine for $400 (Canadian) and that also came with $100 worth of vinyl from the store. http://www.stereophile.com/content/rega-rp-1-record-player
  9. One of my favorite groups, that is good news.
  10. Ray Charles - Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music Jennifer Warnes - Famous Blue Raincoat Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball Rosanne Cash - The List Joan Baez - Baez Sings Dylan
  11. Well you could get a capo that allows you to select which strings are capoed: http://www.spidercapo.com/ Or tune down a whole step and capo at the 2nd fret.
  12. The Genesis Japanese reissues from a few years ago is probably the best way to go. They dynamics are intact, no brickwalled mastering.
  13. One of the true greats of the blues, always dug his guitar playing. As for lack of VC interest. I don't know, it might be somewhat due to the fact that he was 80 (a respectable age to reach.) I think musicians dying at a younger age always get more comments. Plus, yeah the guy isn't probably that well known around these parts. Judging by the 'what are you listening to now" threads most folks here tend to listen to new music--of the indie/roots variety--so I guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a lack of comments.
  14. Stephin Merritt - Obscurities Gilbert O'Sullivan - Himself
  15. I've got em all saved up, just waiting for some time so I can catch up on this one. Hopefully next week.

    Big Star

I know what you mean. I broke down and ordered it the other day, but it was a tough call. If I didn't love that album so much I would've passed. There's not many left so you best order soon if you're gonna pull the trigger.
